2. Which smaller body of water separates Spain from the Balearic Islands?

Answer: The Balearic Sea

The Balearic Islands lie to the east of Spain. The Gulf of Cadiz is in western Spain, and is a subset of the Atlantic Ocean. The Gulf of Sidra is on the Libyan coast. The Ligurian Sea lies between Corsica, and France/Italy.
3. Which of these are the only gulfs in the Mediterranean named after places in Turkey?

Answer: The Gulf of Antalya and the Gulf of Iskenderun

The Gulf of Antalya and Iskenderun lie on the coast of southern Turkey. There is only a Bay of Naples, it is not a gulf. The Gulf of Corinth is in Western Greece. The Saronic Gulf lies diagonally northeast from this, on the opposite side of the peninsula. The Gulf of Lion is in southern France.
4. The eastern region of the Mediterranean is known as the Levantine Sea.

Answer: True

The Levantine Sea is of course derived from Levant, the traditional old name for the western portion of the Middle East. This includes Lebanon, Israel, southern Turkey, northern Egypt, Jordan and Syria.
5. If you look on a map, you will see that this region of the Mediterranean has the most islands.

Answer: Aegean Sea

The Aegean Sea belongs mostly to Greece, and is well known for its many islands, including the Cyclades, Dodecanese, Santorini, etc. The Sea of Marmara is the small body of water in the Dardanelles Strait. The Sea of Azov is an inlet of the Black Sea, and the Tyrrhenian Sea lies to the west of Italy.
6. Which strait separates Corsica (France) from Sardinia (Italy)?

Answer: The Strait of Bonifacio

The Strait of Bonifacio separates the two. The Strait of Messina separates Sicily from Italy. The Strait of Dover and the Strait of Calais are the same name for the strait that separates the British city of Dover from the French city of Calais.
7. The Adriatic Sea separates which two peninsulas?

Answer: The Italian and Balkan Peninsulas

The Italian peninsula is separated from the Balkan and only the Balkan. The Peloponnese is an extension of the Balkan and does not lie near the Italian peninsula. The Iberian Peninsula lies too far to the west. The Crimean Peninsula is an extension of Ukraine into the Black Sea. The Kamchatka extends into the Sea of Okhotsk in the far northeast of Russia.
8. Which of the following rivers does NOT flow into the Mediterranean?

Answer: Danube

The Danube flows into the Black Sea in Romania. The Nile flows into the Mediterranean in Egypt. Both the Tiber and the Arno are Italian rivers.
9. Which of these islands is the SECOND largest in the Mediterranean?

Answer: Sardinia

Sicily is the largest, and belongs to Italy. Sardinia also belongs to Italy. Corsica, just across the Strait of Bonifacio, belongs to France. Crete is a Greek island that is well-known as the home of the Minoan civilization.
10. Which of these is a sub-region of the Mediterranean?

Answer: Libyan Sea

The Libyan Sea lies to the north of Libya, true to its name. The North Sea lies between Britain, Norway, and north-central Europe (the coasts of the Netherlands, Belgium, and north-west Germany). The Gulf of Bothnia lies between Sweden and Finland. The Skagerrak separates Denmark and Sweden.
