Answer: High Street

The High Street ridge stretches 16 miles from Troutbeck in the south to Pooley Bridge in the north. During Roman times messengers travelling between Ravenglass and Penrith used the ridge to avoid the bears in the valleys.
2. Haweswater is a man-made reservoir in the north of the Lakes. Which town was flooded to produce it?

Answer: Mardale

Haweswater is in the north east of the lakes. On foggy eerie days it is rumoured that the old church bell can still be heard.

Answer: Ennerdale

Ennerdale is served by one solitary narrow road. Some magnificent mountains dominate the head of the Ennerdale valley including Pillar and Great Gable. The famous Black Sails youth hostel is also in Ennerdale

Dodd is a small outlier of the Skiddaw group north of Keswick.

Answer: 3054 ft

Skiddaw is Lakeland's and England's fourth highest mountain. Scafell Pike is tallest followed by its neighbour Scafell. Helvellyn is the third highest at 3116 ft(or 3118 ft depending who you ask!). During the 17th century it was believed that Skiddaw was in fact the tallest mountain in England.
