Hokkaido is the second largest and northernmost island in Japan, while Honshu is the largest. It's famous for both its volcanoes and ski resorts.

Answer: Moscow

The Moskva River begins about 100 miles west of Moscow, Russia, and passes through Moscow's city center. It then merges into the Volga River before it terminates in the Caspian Sea.

Riyadh is the Saudi Arabian city designated for King Khalid International Airport, which has one of the largest land allotments in the world (about 80,000 acres). Riyadh itself is in the center of the Arabian Peninsula, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest country in said peninsula.

Cape Town is the legislative capital of South Africa, and houses the National Parliament. Cape Town is also the largest city of the Western Cape province, which is famous for having the southernmost point on the African continent, Cape Aguillas.

Libya is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, and is the fourth largest county in Africa by size, only smaller than Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Algeria. Also a quick note: given a map, South Africa and Libya can be connected by a straight line!

Answer: Manaus

Manaus, Brazil is actually the largest city that lies on the Amazon River. It lies on the junction of the Negro and Solimoes rivers. Both rivers begin in northwest South America and merge to form the Amazon, in a spot called the "Meeting of Waters".

Answer: Lisbon

The Tagus flows through Lisbon, Portugal as well as other Portuguese and Spanish cities. Not only does the Tagus provide drinking water for some Spanish cities, but it has also been used in Portuguese songs and stories.

Answer: Herkimer, NY

Herkimer is located near the Mohawk Valley in New York, and is home to a crystal mine that is known for "Herkimer diamonds". Although not exactly rare (or real), they can still be sold and used as jewelry.
