The Ganges River starts in the mountains of Northern India in Uttar Pradesh. It moves through Northern India, enters Bangladesh and combines with the Brahmaputra to form a huge delta at its mouth. The river is religiously, economically, and politically important to India and Bangladesh.

The countries of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal all use a currency by the name of Rupee (they don't use the same currency, just the same name). Maldives uses the Rufiyaa, whose name comes from the word Rupee. Bangladesh uses a different name for its currency, the Bangladeshi Taka, BDT.

The rupee was originally a silver coin used in India, coming from the word rupaiya. Many other countries have used the name Rupee before, including Afghanistan, Burma, and Bhutan.
