This movie, "The Jazz Singer", made in 1927, established "talkies". The first talking movie was "Der Brandstifter" ("The Arsonist"), made in Germany in 1922.
2. The first 'credit card' (actually a charge card) was invented in 1950 by Ralph Schneider. Which one was first?

Answer: Klaus Fuchs

Fuchs was tried in the Old Bailey in London. As the UK were not at war with the USSR when the crime was committed, Fuchs could not be convicted of treason under UK law (and therefore there was no question of executing him). He was charged under the Official Secrets Act and got 14 years, the maximum sentence. Julius Rosenberg and his wife, Ethel, were tried in America were charged with "conspiracy to commit espionage".

This carries the death penalty. Both were found guilty and executed in 1953. Burgess and MacLean were members of the British secret intelligence service and Soviet spies.

They came into prominence in 1951.

It was called UNIVAC 1, standing for Universal Automatic Computer. It was built by Eckert and Maunchley Computer Company.
