Materials inside the buildings, such as furnishings, papers, etc., supplied fuel for a sustained fire after the jet fuel had burned. Van Romero's statement was taken out of context; he had actually said that it "appeared that" explosive devices had caused the collapse of the towers. The puffs of dust and debris did not require an explosion; the rapid expulsion of air from the building as it collapsed would have the same effect.
