According to anthropolgists Homo sapiens appeared in Africa about 230,000-200,000 years ago and was a descendent of Homo erectus.

Answer: The Agricultural Revolution

During the Agricultural Revolution many famous cities were founded. Such as Jericho in modern-day Israel, and Knossos in modern-day Crete. Obviously, many humans continued to live from hunting and gathering, and these argicultural communities were at first confined to a few areas.
3. It is 8000 B.C.E. and some humans have settled on a long river. These humans would create one of the greatest empires in the world creating cities like Luxor, and Thebes. Which river did these people settle on?

Answer: The Nile

As you may have worked out, the civilization that that I'm referring to is that of the ancient Egyptians. As for the city of Thebes, it became the capital of Egypt during the Middle Kingdom (approx. 2500 BC -1800 BC)

Tyre is a very important city. The Phoencians built a huge civilization from it, and Alexander the Great bulit a causeway just to get to it.

Sumer had several different capitals. During its golden age under the first emperor ever, the capital was Sargon (obviously named after the emperor). It then moved to Akkad and stayed there for quite some time.
