Years later, American poet, H. W. Longfellow wrote a poem called "Paul Revere's Ride" about this incident.
3. April 14, 1912: Twenty minutes before midnight, the lookouts on this ship spotted an iceberg and less than two hours later the vessel sank. Which famous ship, subject of a number of books and movies, sank on its maiden voyage?

Answer: Tryst with Destiny

After being under British rule for more than a hundred years, India finally became an independent country on 15th August, 1947. However, the joy of attaining independence after years of struggle was juxtaposed by the partition of the country into two parts on religious lines.

India's independence day was marred by Hindu-Muslim riots in different parts of the country and the mass exodus of people on both sides of the India-Pakistan border following the partition.
