 The first basketball game was played on January 18, 1896. Chicago scored 15 points and Iowa scored 12 points.

 The "Pennsylvania Gazette" was owned by Ben Franklin and he drew this cartoon himself. It had the caption "Join or Die" under a fragmented snake representing the American colonies.

 The Boston Public Library is the third largest library in the United States. It was established in 1848.

Scoville Memorial Library in Salisbury, Connecticut was established in 1803, and was the first free public library. The Bacon Free library is in Massachusettes. Oliver Bacon willed $15,000 to the creation of the library which began in 1881. The New York Public Library began in 1849.

I wish I could tell you the type of television service and the distance that the match was transmitted, but I've searched and searched for so long and can only find that there was a televised tennis match that day.

 Halle Berry won the Best Actress Oscar in 2002 for her performance in "Monster Ball". She was a runner-up in the Miss USA pageant in 1986. She started her acting career in 1989 as Emily Franklin on the television series "Living Dolls". She has been in many movies, some of which include, "Jungle Fever", "X-Men", and "Die Another Day".
9. In 1901, Annie Taylor was the first woman to survive going over Niagara Falls in a barrel. How old was she at the time?

 Annie Edson Taylor was a teacher and a dancing instructor. She chose a pickle barrel padded with a mattress for her Niagara Falls stunt. Annie Taylor died on April 29, 1921 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Niagara Falls, New York.

 Lyndon Baines Johnson was the thirty-sixth President of The United States. He took office on November 22, 1963 and left office on January 20, 1969.

Leonardo da Vinci introduced the concept of contact lenses in 1508. It wasn't until 1887 when a German glassblower invented the first eyecovering that could be seen through and tolerated. The next year, Adolf Eugen Fick made the first successful contact lense.

 George Carlin was also a frequent guest host of the "Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.

Janis Ian was the first musical guest of "Saturday Night Live".
