This resolution was the result of the alleged attack on the USS Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin.

MacArthur was also well know for his farewell speech where he stated, "Old Soldiers never die, they only fade away..."

Tet is the Vietnamese lunar new year. In addition, the Tet Offensive was a military campaign which the North Vietnamese Regular Army and the South Vietnamese Guerrilla faction (the Viet Cong) carried out a combined war effort that succeeded - initially - in occupying parts of all the major South Vietnamese cities.
