Though at the beginning of WWII Italy had over 2,000 working aircraft only 166 were considered modern aircraft at the time.

A single P-38 would have a glazed (transparent) nosecone and would lead the rest of the force. The "Pathfinder" would have either a Norden bombsite or radar and when it released its load of bombs (2000 lbs) the others released theirs.

Pathfinders would arrive in advance of a force of heavy bombers, and "mark" the target with incendiary bombs.

The broken or gull wing was designed to help with landing gear retraction problem by allowing shorter wheel struts. It also helped to minimize drag.

Only at the end of the was the ME262 was armed with rocket (R4M) that would be fired outside the guns of the of the bombers. It was pretty effective but came much too late in the war to change the outcome.

Answer: Made from plywood with a balsawood core

All other strategic materials was in very short supply in Britain. The side effect of this shortage made the Mosquito a very fast plane with a top speed of 415 mph.
10. The Ju88 (manufactured by Junkers) was what type of aircraft?

Answer: Multi-role

Its uses included those of a bomber, a close-support aircraft and even a giant flying bomb in the Mistel project (this was to load the bomber with explosive and guide it to the target and release it. Other Junkers were used as the "towing" aircraft).
