Edwin Perkins experimented in his mother's kitchen to reduce Fruit Smack from a liquid to a powder. Being in powder form it would be easier and cheaper to ship the product. Edwin Perkins found the solution to his experiments in 1927. Interestingly today Kool-Aid comes in liquid form as well.
