Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which pie made with citrus custard in a Graham cracker crust topped with baked meringue or whipped cream is the state pie of Florida?

Answer: key lime pie

Key limes differ from the Persian limes common in most grocer's cases in that they are smaller, tarter and more yellow than green. Key limes (Citrus aurantifolia 'Swingle') grow in the Florida Keys but most of the juice used in the US comes from Central and South America. Key lime pie was adopted by the Florida State Legislature as the state pie in 2006. The pie was likely invented in about 1930 to mimic a Borden recipe for lemon cream pie. No recipe earlier than 1931 is known.

Answer: China

In the early 9th century, China became the first to produce fireworks. With 19 different effects, including the salute and the Roman candle, among others, fireworks provide a lot of variety.
