2. What year was the Moon Pie developed?

Answer: 1917

The exact history of the developent of this snack has been lost, but Earl Mitchell Jr. claims he knows how it came about. He claims his father came up with the idea while working the Kentucky sales area. His father asked a company store what kind of snack the local coal miners might enjoy having to eat.
3. According to one account how did the Moon Pie get its name?

Answer: A description of what the first consumers wanted

During a moonlit night Mr. Mitchell asked how the product should be packaged. A coal miner held up circled fingers around the moon, saying "about this size so it will fit in our lunch pails". The use of the moon as an example led to the name of the product.

Answer: Marshmallow, graham crackers, chocolate covering

Mr. Mitchell supposedly noticed miners dipping a graham cracker in marshmallow and setting it in the window to harden. A second graham cracker was added, making a sandwich, and chocolate was used to cover it all; a new snack was born. As of 2002, over 8 billion have now been made to enjoy.
