1. How many Lego bricks are there in Legoland, Windsor?

Answer: Approximately 55 million

Legoland, Windsor was opened in 1996, making it the second Legoland park. Legoland is a theme park dedicated to Lego. In 2007 1.65 million people visited Legoland. This makes it the fourth most visited theme park in the United Kingdom after Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, Alton Towers and Thorpe Park.
2. 1961 was the first year that you could buy which Lego element?

Answer: wheels

Wheels were sold in the new sets that came out in 1961 and as loose elements. The first loose elements were sold in 1955.
3. What year was Duplo first sold?

Answer: 1969

Duplo is a Lego series for the under fives. Duplo is eight times bigger than Lego in volume (twice as large in every dimension), but the two are still compatible with each other.
4. How did Lego get its name?

Answer: From the Danish words "leg godt"

He took the first two letters from the Danish words "leg godt" which means play well. He was unaware at the time that one of the meaning in Latin was "I put together."
5. What is Lego made of (post-1960s)?

Answer: Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene

Cellulose acetate was used to make the Lego bricks up until 1963. Lego is now made out of ABS plastic. It replaced the Cellulose acetate because it was more stable and held the colour better.
6. During the moulding process, the plastic is heated to what temperature?

Answer: Approximately 230°C

The plastic is heated to 232°C, until its consistency is similar to that of dough. This is then injected into the moulds at high pressure. It then takes 7 seconds for the plastic to be ejected as new elements.
7. When were the first Lego products targeted specifically at girls?

Answer: 1971

These products were doll houses and furniture elements.
8. What year was the mini figure first made?

Answer: 1978

At first, there were seven different mini figures with the themes of town, castle and space. Two months after this, the first female mini figure was made, a hospital nurse.
9. Who founded Lego?

Answer: Ole Kirk Christiansen

Mr. Christiansen was Danish and was born on April 7th 1891 in Fliskov, Denmark. He died on March 11th 1958. The company is now run by his grandson Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen. Lego was founded in 1932. Joel Glickman created the toy K'Nex and Kazunori Ueno is the president of the toy company Bandai Co.Ltd.
10. What were the first toys distributed by the Lego company made of?

Answer: Wood

Lego started out by making wooden toys in a small carpenter's workshop and is now a global enterprise. The production of wooden toys was stopped in 1960.
