Answer: Korea, 5 won

The regular issue U.S. 25 cent piece depicts an eagle on the reverse, The Bermuda 5 cent features a fish and the Irish half crown, minted from 1928-67, has a horse on it. The Korean 5 won's theme is a sheaf of rice.
2. Some countries put holes (square or round) in the centers of their coins. Which of these coins has this feature?

Answer: Japan, 5 yen

Many ancient coins, especially from Asia, have holes in them. It is thought this was to enable them to be carried around on a string before pockets were added to clothing. However, some modern coins still have this feature.
3. One hundred groszy equals 1 zloty in which country?

Answer: Poland

It is thought that Poland may convert to the Euro in the near future, possibly around 2015.
4. Which of these European countries was still NOT using the Euro as currency in 2011?

Answer: Lithuania

Lithuania adopted the Euro on January 1, 2015.
5. Of the countries listed, the "cash" was an ancient denomination of money in which country?

Answer: China

The cash was a denomination used mainly in the 1800s through the early 1900s in provincial China, Hong Kong and Dutch provinces of India.
6. The tughra, a butterfly-shaped emblem, is found on older coinage from what region?

Answer: The Middle East

The tughra (or toughra) was used during the Ottoman Empire as a designation of the current sultan. Each ruler had his own individual motif, but all had the same basic design elements.
7. The heller, kreuzer, florin and thaler were all types of former currency in which country?

Answer: Austria

In Austria in the 1800s, 8 hellers equaled 1 kreuzer, 60 kreuzers equaled 1 florin and 2 florins equaled 1 thaler. A heller of a question!
8. In what year did Australia change its currency from the pound to the dollar? It was the same year actor Patrick Dempsey was born.

Answer: 1966

The dollar replaced the pound on February 14, 1966 when Australia opted for a decimal based currency.
9. You find an American 1 cent coin that has a small letter S under the date. What does this signify?

Answer: it was minted in San Francisco

This small letter is called a "mint mark." On U.S. coins, no mark under the date or a P means it was minted in Philadelphia, D is Denver and S means San Francisco. On very old coins, sometimes the mint mark was an O for New Orleans, but this mint was only operational from 1838 to 1861 and from 1879 to 1909 and only minted coin denominations that are no longer in use.
10. If you found a dong in your pocket, in what country would you likely be?

Answer: Vietnam

In Vietnam, 10 Xu equals 1 Hao and 10 Hao is 1 dong - still not worth very much since it would take over 19,500 dongs to equal a U.S. dollar, over 26,000 dongs in a Euro and over 31,000 to equal a British pound.
