1. In the book 'The Once and Future King', the name of the wizard who taught young Arthur was spelled 'Merlyn', with a Y.

Answer: True

The correct spelling in 'The Once and Future king' is in fact Merlyn with a Y. However, most people spell it with an I.

2. Who locked up Merlyn/Merlin in a magical cave in the book 'The Once and Future King'?

Answer: Nimue

Nimue is the correct answer and she did lock him up in the cave for many centuries. Merlyn used his insight and knew long before it happened that she would lock him up.

3. 'The Once and Future King' consists of how many books, NOT including 'The Book of Merlyn'?

Answer: 4

The book consists of four books; 'The Sword in the Stone','The Queen of Air and Darkness', 'The Ill-Made Knight' and 'The Candle in the Wind'. The book of Merlyn, another book written by T.H. White also appears in some versions of the book.

Answer: False

A Disney movie was adapted from an Arthurian tale. 'The Sword in the Stone' in fact.

'Le Morte d'Arthur' was the name of the book Malory wrote and it was more or less the first book about King Arthur. T.H. White, the author of 'The Once and Future King' relied heavily on Malory's works.

6. Knights go through two stages before coming one. What is the name of the first stage?

Answer: Page

To become a knight you must become a page, who helps around the castle you are stationed at, then a squire where you accompany a real knight and dress his armor and such and then finally you will become a knight yourself.

7. What is the name of King Arthur's sword?

Answer: Excalibur

In some versions it has been said that Excalibur was the sword Arthur pulled from the stone, others have said the Lady of the Lake gave it to him.

8. Sir Pellinore, famous for hunting the Questing Beast, killed King Lot.

Answer: True

Pellinore did accidentally kill King Lot. Lot's kindred in turn killed Sir Pellinore and then later on killed his father, Sir Lamorak.

9. The Questing Beast was supposed to make a noise that rivaled how many hound dogs?

Answer: 60

"30 couple of hounds questing", or 60 dogs. The Pellinore line must hunt the Questing Beast but when Sir Pellinore finally had the chance, he did not.

10. Name the oldest brother whose father was King Lot and mother was Morgause.

Answer: Gawain

Morgause had another son, however, and it was not with King Lot. It was with King Arthur. Mordred was his name and I think it's pretty gross to have a child with your sister (or half-sister, depending on the legend).
