Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Finish up this line: "That mouthful of cheer;"

Answer: "That sweet without peer;"

All of these lines are sung in the song "Toot Sweets." This song takes place as Caractacus is trying to sell Toot Sweets to Mr. Scrumptious. Truly Scrumptious, Mr. Scrumptious' daughter, tries to help Caractacus.
2. Which line comes first in the song "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang?"

Answer: "And our pretty chitty bang bang..."

Sung by the children, Mr. Potts and Truly in the beginning of the wonderful musical, most of the lines are either praising Chitty Chitty, or saying the words "Chitty Bang Bang, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" over and over!
On a side note, Chitty got her name by the noise she makes. In the words of Caractacus, "all engines talk."
3. Who sings "Hushabye Mountain"?

Answer: Caractacus

This is a very haunting lullabye. "A gentle from Hushabye Mountain softly blows o'er lullabye bay. It fills the sails of boats that are waiting; waiting to sail your worries away." Caractacus sings this song to his children, Jeremy and Jemima as they go to sleep.
4. This song has both children and their father singing to each other. One of the lines is "What makes the battle worth the fighting?" What song is it?

Answer: "You Two"

Sung by the family, Caractacus begins it with "What makes the battle worth the fighting?" A happy song, it makes it clear that the children are very important to their beloved father.
5. This song starts out with just the children singing. They compare Truly to food. What is the name of the song?

Answer: Truly Scrumptious

This is the song that is also in the duet "Doll On A Music Box," only then it's sung by Caractacus. The children say that several different type of candies "tell you what they are right from the start" and that her name does the same for her.
6. "That wasn't thunder." What was it?

Answer: "A ship, out there, firing at us!"

It was the Vulgarian ship, coming to take Chitty! Of course, Caractacus couldn't let that happen!
7. Who is the Baron referring to when he sings "Ev'ry time I look at you, I sigh"?

Answer: The Baroness

Interestingly enough, during this song (in the movie, at least) he keeps trying to kill her!
8. What is the response to this question: "What do you see, you people gazing at me?"

Answer: "You see a Doll on a Music Box that's wound by a key."

This is the duet that Truly and Caractacus use to distract the people of Vulgaria. It works, and the toymaker, Caractacus and Truly free the children!
A side note about the movie with Dick van Dyke: the castle that is pictured is an actual German castle called "Neuschwanstein."
9. This song happens as Caractacus joins a group of folk dancers. What is the song's title?

Answer: "Me Ol' Bam-Boo"

Caractacus tries to keep up with the folk dancers, and manages to do a pretty good job! He even sings a bit, "ladies use a parasol."
10. What song are Truly, Caractacus and the children singing when they find out Chitty can fly?

Answer: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

This song is used throughout the musical. It is used when they are out on the drive, when they find out she can fly, and at the end of the wondrous musical journey!
All of the quoted lyrics came from the piano/vocal/chords music book "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." The info about the musical came from the recording of "CCBB" and also from the movie "CCBB." For more info about the West End musical, visit chittythemusical.co.uk
