Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Athena asks: "My mother, Metis, is the goddess of what?"

Answer: Crafty wisdom

Athena confides: "Yes, Metis is the goddess of crafty wisdom. It is due to her craftiness that I was born from my father's head. So remember, in case your husband or father swallows your wife or mom, pray that she is crafty!"
2. Athena asks: "Who is the Greek god/goddess of lunacy?"

Answer: Mania

Athena confides: "Mania is the little known Greek goddess of insanity and madness. Luna is a moon goddess, Dionysus is the god of wine, who turn his enemies into mad dolphins, while Morpheus is the god of sleep. Think you are completely mad? Go to Dionysus with barrels of wine. If he's in a nice mood, he may help you recover."
3. Athena states: "Tyche, sister of Nemesis (the goddess of revenge), is the Greek goddess of good luck." True or false?

Answer: True

Athena confides: "Yes! Even though Nemesis is the goddess of revenge and, in some versions, balance, her sister Tyche is clearly the opposite! However do not mention anything about Tyche to Nemesis, unless you want plenty of bad luck. The latter clearly hates the former and likes to believe she does not exist."
4. Athena asks: "Why did Zeus swallow the pregnant Metis?"

Answer: The Oracle had prophesied that if a son was born of Zeus and Metis, he would overthrow his father

Athena confides: "Yeah, Zeus was acting as if I would overthrow him. As for Hera, she was not married to Zeus then. Do NOT let your husband or father listen to some psychotic Oracle. There is no telling what will happen! You cannot crack his head open and expect him to live."
5. Athena asks: "The Titaness of good counsel, she is said to have built the Oracle of Delphi and was witness to the birth of Apollo. Who is she?"

Answer: Themis

Athena confides: "Themis was the Titaness of oracles and justice. Unlike the other Titans, she supported the Gods. Dike, the goddess of justice, is the daughter of Zeus and Themis. Remember, always trust ONLY the female Titans, not their male brethren."
6. Athena asks: "In what form does Zeus seduce the unwilling Hera?"

Answer: Cuckoo

Athena's confides: "After the battle between the Gods and the Titans, Zeus goes and seeks Hera to marry her. As Hera refuses, Zeus slyly turns himself into a cuckoo and flies before Hera. Overcome by pity, Hera takes the bird and keeps it near her bosom. At this chance, Zeus returns into his original form and uses Hera disgracefully. Overcome by shame, Hera marries him so that nobody makes fun of her. My advice - never EVER take pity on an anonymous, out of place animal or bird, unless until you want to be shamed."
7. Athena asks: "Into what does Hera turn Io, a mistress of Zeus?"

Answer: a white heifer cow

Athena's confides: "Too many whites in this question, eh? Zeus made a mist of clouds so that Hera couldn't get to know of his affair with Io. However, Hera's suspicion was aroused. Zeus immediately turned Io into a white heifer. Clever Hera asked for the cow as a present, so Zeus unwillingly gave Io up.

Hera made Argus guard Io. Zeus, however, ordered Hermes to kill Argus. Hermes promptly followed that command; however, Hera tortured Io for a long time. As for Argus, Hera, as a tribute to her faithful servant, turned him into a peacock. Moral: Do. Not. Trust. Zeus. You will have no idea what horrors may follow!"
8. Athena asks: "What is the colour of the blood of gods, and what is it known as?"

Answer: Golden ichor

Athena confides: "Ichor is the golden blood of the gods. The colour is due to the consumption of nectar and ambrosia. However, DO NOT try to steal them, you may end up like Tantalus!"
9. Athena asks: "Who is the cup-bearer of Zeus?"

Answer: Ganymede

Athena confides: "Ganymede was a handsome youth with whom Zeus literally fell in love. The largest moon of Jupiter is named after him. If you are a handsome, ambitious youth, meet my father!"
10. Athena asks: "Where does Leto give birth to Apollo and Artemis?"

Answer: Delos

Athena confides: "Leto was yet another mistress of Zeus. When Hera finds she is pregnant, she prohibits her from giving birth on the mainland, due to which she gives birth in the island of Delos. By the way, if you are a former mistress of Zeus, and if he wants to stay with you for the night, go to the nearest island and take a few nurses along with you."
