Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Zeus' emblem?

Answer: All of these

Yup, this god had three emblems: the lightning bolt because that was his main weapon, the woodpecker because of its strength, and the eagle because of its power.
2. Which emblem is Hera's?

Answer: All of these

Hera chose the cow because it is very motherly, the lioness because of its strength and courage, and the peacock for its beauty.
3. Which emblem did Dionysus choose?

Answer: A Tiger

One of my favorite stories as to why he chose this emblem is that he and his army were in India, and after a long night of drinking and partying he saw a tiger and just chose it as his emblem (good old Dionysus). One of the more popular stories is that Zeus sent Dionysus a tiger to ride across the Tigris river on his way to India. Another one of his emblems is the grape or the vine.
4. Hephaestus chose an interesting emblem, is it here?

Answer: None of these

His emblem was actually a quail because of its strange hobble dance. Hephaestus also hobbles because he is crippled.
5. Artemis, godess of the moon and the hunt (among other things), had this emblem.

Answer: Both

I think she chose the she bear because it is very independent, like herself.
6. Poseidon was the god of the sea. Which emblem is his?

Answer: Trident

A trident is a long stick with three points on top of it.
7. Which was Hades' emblem?

Answer: Bident

A bident looks like a trident, except it only has two points instead of three.
8. The jokester Hermes chose this as his emblem.

Answer: Cadeuceus

Have you ever been to a hospital or a medical center and seen a picture of a stick with two snakes winding around it and some wings? Well, that is the Cadeuceus. He traded it from Apollo for the Lyre. It was originally just a golden staff but Hermes added the snakes and the wings.
9. The handsome Apollo had this emblem.

Answer: Both

Apollo chose the Mouse because the mice told him all the secrets of man, and the Lyre for its beautiful music.
10. The tyrant god Ares chose this powerful emblem.

Answer: A wild boar

Ares, the god of war, chose this and other emblems including a blood covered spear for one obvious reason: he loved to kill (nice guy huh?).
