Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Harold Hill

Answer: Marian

In "The Music Man" he is the fast talking salesman and she is the librarian/music teacher that first despises and then falls in love with him. The turning point is when he brings her brother Winthrop out of his shell by giving him his brand new cornet. Zaneeta is the town mayor's oldest daughter.
2. Joe Hardy

Answer: Lola

In "Damn Yankees" he is the young ball player that Joe Boyd becomes after making a deal with the devil. Lola is the seductress who attempts to keep him from getting out of the deal. After failing, she is turned back to the ugly crone she really is. Doris is a friend of Joe Boyd's wife, and Gloria is the newspaper reporter trying to figure out who this Joe Hardy really is.
3. Hero

Answer: Philia

In "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" he is the young and naive owner of the wily slave Pseudolus. Pseudolus tries to earn his freedom by getting him the courteson Philia, to whom Hero has admired from afar. Vibrata and Tintinabula are two other courtesons and Domina is his domineering mother.
4. Georg Von Trapp

Answer: Maria

They are both actual historical figures in "The Sound Of Music". He was an Austrian military captain and she was the young nun sent to care for his seven difficult children right before World War II. While caring for them she turns the children around, and they fall in love with each other.

They all escape through the mountains so he doesn't have to serve in the war. They ended up settling in Vermont. Liesl & Marta are two of the children.
5. Horace Vandegelder

Answer: Dolly

He is a rich merchant in "Hello, Dolly". She of course is the unforgettable matchmaker that puts together her plan to have him marry her. Ernestina is the fake name (the last name is Money!) of a woman Dolly hires to pretend to be his match.
6. Amos Hart

Answer: Roxie

In "Chicago" he is the hapless, unappreciated husband of Roxie. He hires the lawyer and is trying to get her out of jail for the murder of her lover! Velma is the other woman convict that the play centers around.
7. Sky Masterson

Answer: Sarah

In "Guys And Dolls" he is a high rolling gambler, and she is a mission "doll". He asks her out on a bet, and then falls in love with her. Adelaide is head dancer of the "Hot Box Girls" and the girlfriend of his friend Nathan Detroit who made the bet with him.
8. Albert Peterson

Answer: Rosie

He's the manager of rock star Conrad Birdie in "Bye, Bye Birdie". She is his secretary and girlfriend (much to the chagrin of his mother who keeps trying to break them up). Kim is the teenager (played by Ann Margaret in the movie) who through a publicity stunt is chosen to kiss Birdie before he goes off to the army. Urusla is Kim's friend, and Gloria is the girl Albert's mother hires to try to get him away from Rosie.
9. Prince Dauntless

Answer: Winnifred

In "Once Upon A Mattress" (which is based on the fairy tale "The Princess And The Pea"), his mother sets up impossible tests for princesses to pass to try to win him as their husband. Winnifred passes the test of feeling a pea under 20 mattresses (which was really because of everything else Dauntless's friends stuff in them!).
10. Perchik

Answer: Hodel

He is the teacher hired to tutor Tevye's daughters in "A Fiddler On The Roof". She is Tevye's second daughter who falls in love with and marries Perchik. Tzeitel and Chava are the two other oldest daughters of Tevye (he has 5!). Golde is their mother.
