Wilkommen! Trivia Quiz

Here's a quiz about plot and character (my two favorite things in theatre...next to light, and costumes, and sound, and set...)! By the way, all these questions pertain to the original 1966 show, not the revival or the movie!

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What country is Sally Bowles from?

Answer: England

"Perfectly marvelous, darling!"
2. What is the name of Clifford Bradshaw's landlady?

Answer: Fraulein Schneider

I'm happy to say, I once played Schneider, and it was one of the best theatrical experiences of my life. It was a role written for an extrememly low female voice...and I think that's why I got the part! ;-)
3. What is the first song Sally sings in the Kit Kat Club?

Answer: "Don't Tell Mama"

"Hush up, Don't tell Mama! Shush up, don't tell Mama! Don't tell Mama, whatever you do! If you had a secret, you bet I would keep it, I would never tell on you!"
4. True or false: Herr Schultz, Fraulein Kost, Fraulein Schneider, and Cliff Bradshaw all live in the same building.

Answer: True

This is advantageous to Schneider; she can monitor the comings and goings of Kost (who is a prosititute), keep an eye on Cliff (whom she thinks will eventually be famous) and visit with Schultz (who is her sweetheart).
5. What type of fruit does Herr Schultz present to Fraulein Schneider?

Answer: Pineapple

In Berlin in 1930, pineapples were hard to come by, rare, and precious. What a sweetie he was to find her one!
6. Who is the father of Sally's baby?

Answer: Cliff

"What do we do, Cliff? The usual?"
7. Who reveals to Fraulein Schneider that Herr Schultz is Jewish?

Answer: Ernst Ludwig

Ludwig, a friend of Schneider's, tells her during her engagement party that Schutlz is a Jew...which means that if she marries him, she will suffer the same fate as he.
8. Who ends up married by the end of the show?

Answer: No one

Two relationships are shattered by the end of this dark, expressionistic show. The once optimistic Schneider leaves Schultz for fear that they will be persecuted once the Nazis take over, and Cliff leaves Sally after her abortion, which he did not encourage, to return to America.
9. Which of the following songs does the ever-present Emcee NOT sing in its entirety?

Answer: Cabaret

Sally sings "Cabaret" as her swan song near the end of the show. When taken out of context, it is a cheerful song, but when sung within the confines and plot of the show, it's a depressing and desperate piece.
10. Which of the following was NOT the name of a Kit-Kat girl?

Answer: Mimi

"Rosie is so-called because of the color of her cheeks. And Lulu! Oh, you like Lulu? Too bad. So does Rosie!"
