The song is sung by Carlotta until the phantom switches her spray bottle which makes her lose her voice and start croaking. In the film version, Minnie Driver plays Carlotta, but does not provide the singing voice.

The three children are named after birds. They are called, Swallow, Blue Jay and Robin, although Blue Jay and Robin are better known as Brat and Poor Baby. However, the other characters are not all known by bird names.
