Zeus was worshiped as a weather god by the Greeks. He is mostly seen holding a thunderbolt and controls thunder, lightning and rain. Theocritus wrote "Sometimes Zeus is clear, sometimes he rains."
2. The name "Zeus" is related to the Greek word "dios". What is the meaning of this word?

Answer: Bright

His name is directly derived from the Proto-Indo-European god Dyēus, whose name meant either sky or shining.
