Ogonquit is a real town in Maine's York County. Harold Lauder and Frannie Goldsmith are the only survivors of the town that we know about after the Superflu. Harold and Frannie set out for Stovington soon after Frannie's father is buried.
2. When we first meet Rita Blakemoor, where is she living?

Answer: New York City, New York

Rita is the rich widow of Harry Blakemoor. She meets Larry in Central Park and they become lovers for a time. She overdoses on prescription medication during their trek away from New York City.
3. What town did the Trashcan Man originally call home?

Answer: Powtanville, Indiana

Powtanville is a made-up city in Illinois where the Trashcan Man ignites the oil tanks after the Superflu kills off the other inhabitants. While escaping from the top of the tank, he leaps several flights of stairs, disfiguring him arm from a break at the wrist.
4. Where is Tom Cullen originally from?

Answer: May, Oklahoma

May is a real town in Oklahoma with a population of 33 as of the 2000 census. Tom Cullen believed that the entire town had gone to Kansas City, except for his mother and her friend Mrs. Blakesly, both of whom he knew to be dead.
5. Where is Stu Redman living when the book begins?

Answer: Arnette, Texas

Arnette is the town where Campion crashes his car with his dead family. It becomes ground zero for civilian Superflu cases and the site of the authorities' first attempt at keeping the flu safely quarantined.

Shoyo is a fictional town in Arkansas where we first meet Nick Andros. After being beaten within an inch of his life by Ray Booth and his gang, he ends up in the lock-up under John Baker's watch. Baker gives Nick the opportunity of working for him, and as the Superflu spreads, Nick quickly finds himself the de facto sheriff of the town.
10. Ray Flowers broadcast his radio show from what city?

Answer: Springfield, Missouri

Springfield, Missouri is of course a real city in the US with a population of over 150,000. Ray Flowers continues on with his show despite being sick with the Superflu, working the controls by himself before being killed by the US military trying to silence his broadcast about the flu.
