Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night", Olivia and:

Answer: Sebastian

Olivia married Sebastian thinking that he was Cesario, a young soldier in fact created by Sebastian's sister, Viola. Oddly enough, she doesn't seem to mind when she finds out her mistake. This is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays.
2. From C.S. Lewis' "The Horse And His Boy", Cor and______?

Answer: Aravis

The reason for this marriage tickles my funny bone. Cor and Aravis
"..were so used to quarreling and making it up again that they got married so as to go on doing it more conveniently."
3. From Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women", who does Jo marry?

Answer: Friedrich

Jo and Friedrich met while teaching. Later, after they were married, they started a school together. Find out what happened in " Jo's Boys."
4. From Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream", Helena and:

Answer: Demetrius

The mischievious magic of the fairies was the reason for this couple's happy ending. Helena adored Demetrius, but he would not look at her until the fairy king filled his eyes with a love potion while he slept. Once Demetrius woke, he loved Helena in return.
5. From J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Silmarillion" (also mentioned within "The Lord Of The Rings"), who was Beren's chosen partner?

Answer: Luthien

Beren and Luthien were the second pairing of mortal and immortal. Luthien gave up her immortality in order to be with Beren. Ever after, the choice of an Elf maiden to become mortal was called "The choice of Luthien."
6. From Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing", Hero and _____?

Answer: Claudio

Hero and Claudio very nearly lost one another. Hero was falsely accused of adultery on their wedding day, and Claudio refused to have her. In the end, Hero was vindicated, and they were wed.
7. From The Holy Bible, Ruth and:

Answer: Boaz

You could say that Ruth proposed to Boaz. She went to the threshing floor where he was and uncovered his feet, indicating her interest, if you will. He responded by acquiring permission to marry her, and then doing so.
8. From Jane Austen's "Pride And Predjudice", Lydia Bennet and:

Answer: Mr. Wickham

The elopement of Lydia and Wickham was the most dreadful scandal in the book.
9. From Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights", Catherine and:

Answer: Heathcliff

Romantic, slightly chilling story of star-crossed lovers.
10. From Lucy Maud Montgomery's "Anne Of Green Gables" series, Anne Shirley and:

Answer: Gilbert Blythe

Anne and Gil began as bitter enemies, when, as children, Gil would call Anne "carrots" because her hair was red. But time has a way of changing things, and they became friends and finally fell in love. ("Carrots" eventually became an endearing nickname.)
