Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of the Guardian Bear?

Answer: Shardik

Susannah killed Shardik the Bear by shooting a little radar dish on its head. It is shown that Shardik was created by the Great Old Ones and he was on the opposite side of Mid-World of the Turtle.
2. What did Roland throw into the fire to make Eddie see the key he would create?

Answer: A jawbone

Roland threw Walter's jawbone onto the fire. To make the key, Eddie carved its shape out of a piece of ash wood. He uses the key to bring Jake into Mid-World.
3. What is Jake's last name?

Answer: Chambers

Jake Chambers was born and raised in New York City. He was in mid-world previously, and he heads back after he is drawn from his doorway.
4. According to Jake's essay (and other references), when is a door not a door? When it's _______.

Answer: ajar

This riddle is said every little while in the book. Once in Jake's essay, once among the ka-tet, and once on Blaine the Train.
5. What mark does Jake receive on his final essay?

Answer: A+

Jake's teacher Ms. Avery was highly impressed with Jake's essay. She was ecstatic about the references he used and the superiority of his writing skills.
6. Oy is a Billy-bumbler.

Answer: True

Jake fed Oy a piece of the Gunslinger Burrito, and from then on, Oy followed Jake around. Oy also helped save Jake from the "Greys" in Lud.
7. Who is the blind person living in the colony outside of Lud?

Answer: Mercy

Mercy tells the ka-tet of Blaine the Mono who she heard many years ago. She along with everyone else wonders if it is still running although they can't hear it.
8. Which ka-tet member does Gasher abduct?

Answer: Jake

As Aunt Talitha said, the "Greys" and "Pubes" would go nuts over a boy. Gasher (of the "Greys") abducts Jake, and Roland must save him (with a little help from Oy).
9. What was the password into the Tick-Tock Man's chamber?

Answer: Bountiful

Jake has to tell Gasher the password because he couldn't read it. He then caused a distraction which let Oy get into the room, and Roland enter and shoot (but not kill) the Tick-Tock Man.
10. What is the final stop on Blaine the Mono's route?

Answer: Topeka

Blaine plans to commit suicide and kill his passengers (Oy, Roland, Jake, Eddie, and Susannah) after the Topeka stop. He vows to let them off at Topeka if he fails to answer a riddle. This brings us to the next story. Hope you liked this book, and I hope I'll see you at the end of the next.
