Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is Bourbon?

Answer: Amuro Tooru

Although Okiya Subaru and Masami Sera were suspected of being Bourbon, Amuro Tooru was revealed to be Bourbon during the Mystery Train arc (Chapters 820-824). His first debut was in Episode 667/Chapter 793, in which he was acting as a private detective. Hondou Hidemi is not Bourbon, as she is an undercover CIA agent in the Black Organization under the name of Mizunashi Rena, with the codename of Kir.
2. What was the initial reason that Kaitou Kid was stealing gems? (It changes later on.)

Answer: His father was murdered by a mysterious organization, and he wants to find out more about them.

Although his reason now is that he wants to find the Pandora gem before the organization does, his initial reason was that his father was murdered by this strange organization, which he learned from Jii in episode 1 of "Detective Conan: Kid the Phantom Thief". This makes sense, as, in the beginning, he didn't know who had murdered his father.
3. What is Haibara Ai's real name?

Answer: Miyano Shiho

Haibara, or Miyano Shiho, was once an important scientist for the Black Organization that was helping to create the drug that had shrunk Conan. However, after her older sister, Miyano Akemi, was murdered by them for no reason, she rebelled. When the Black Organization was about to kill her, she consumed one of the drugs with the intent of committing suicide.

However, instead, she, like Conan, was reverted back to a child state, which helped her escape.
4. Who was Vermouth disguised as when she was looking for Haibara?

Answer: Araide Tomoaki

Vermouth, a master of disguise, infiltrated Teitan Elementary School to find Haibara Ai, who's real identity is Miyano Shiho (Sherry), a traitor from the Black organization. She was disguised as a doctor named Araide Tomoaki, who first appeared in episode 170 (chapter 234).
5. How does APTX4869 work?

Answer: It activates apoptosis, which causes the cells to kill themselves.

It activates apoptosis, a mechanism in which the cells kill themselves. The drug also contains other ingredients that have different functions, one of which is that it activates telomerase. Telomerase is an enzyme that lengthens the caps at the end of DNA, the length of which limits the number of times a cell can divide.

This causes the apoptosis to spread more quickly through the body.
6. Where does the name of APTX4869 originate from?

Answer: APTX is short for Apotoxin, and 4869 means Sherlock

APTX is short for the true name of the poison, Apotoxin, which refers to apoptosis, the process in activates. 4869, when said a certain way (Shi-Ha-Ro-Ku), sounds like Sherlock in Sherlock Holmes. This is is referred to by the Black Organization, as they call this drug the "incomplete detective", by using a pun for 4869, and implying that the drug's purpose has not yet been fulfilled.
7. What alcohol reverts Conan back to his adult state in episodes 48-49?

Answer: Baijiu (Paichuu)

Baijiu, or Paichuu, is a Chinese distilled beverage. It directly translates to "white spirits", "white liquor", or "white alcohol". However, it is often mistakenly translated to "white wine", which is incorrect, as it is a distilled liquor.
Baijiu is a clear liquid that is usually distilled from sorghum. Other varieties include glutinous rice, wheat, barley, millet, or Job's tears.
8. Who are four known FBI agents?

Answer: Akai Shuichi, Jodie Starling, James Black, Andre Camel

Akai Shuichi, the FBI's ace, used to be infiltrated in the Black Organization in order to gain information for the FBI. He did this by pretending to be Moroboshi Dai, and coming in contact with Black Organization member, Miyano Akemi. Jodie Starling, James Black, and Andre Camel are other FBI agents who were present in multiple cases. Hondou Hidemi and her father, Ethan Hondou, were both CIA agents, and Kusada Rikumichi was a Black Organization member.
9. What codename was Akai Shuichi given when he infiltrated the Black Organization?

Answer: Rye

Akai Shuichi became an important figure in the Black Organization during the two years he was infiltrated with them, and was assigned the codename of Rye. During this time, he was on equal status with Gin. One day, the FBI designed a trap to capture Gin, but due to a blunder made by Andre Camel, the Black Organization discovered his true allegiance, and Gin never appeared.

After that, Akai Shuichi was removed from the Black Organization.
10. What was the codename given to Vermouth by the FBI?

Answer: Rotten Apple

The FBI gave Vermouth the codename "Rotten Apple", as, when she was Chris Vineyard she was pretty and beautiful, but now she's rotten and wilted on the inside.
