Rupert did get a musket wound from one of the battles and was going to die, but he said he would rather "die by (Dougal's) hand,...not in the hands of a stranger."

After the battle many were wounded, but only Kincaid died "slowly from the wounds that riddled his belly and chest, of a slow internal seepage that couldn't be halted."
