1. The Druid of Shannara

"The Druid of Shannara" (1991) is the second book in Terry Brooks' tetralogy called "The Heritage of Shannara". The story in this novel revolves around a druid named Walker Boh returning a castle to the world known as the Four Lands. This world is a futuristic representation of our own world, and Brooks' "The Genesis of Shannara" trilogy reveals that the Four Lands are located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and Canada.
2. Northern Lights

Philip Pullman's 1995 young-adult fantasy novel "Northern Lights" is the first book in the trilogy "His Dark Materials". The novel is set in a parallel universe and follows the protagonist Lyra Belacqua to the Arctic in search of a missing friend and imprisoned uncle. Pullman's creation was released as a movie and a video game in 2007 under the name "The Golden Compass".
3. The Keeping Place
