Furies of Calderon Trivia Quiz

Amara was taking her final exam which, if she passed, would lift her to the ranks of the Cursors. She escaped the trap and reported Fidelias' betrayal to Gaius who then made her a Cursor and sent her to Calderon Valley.

Bittan was accused of raping Heddy, the daughter of Steadholder Warner. Kord, Aric, and Bittan were waiting to ambush Warner and his family on the way to Bernardholt for the trial. They would have succeeded if Warner had not come to Bernardholt the night before.

Lady Caria answers the message and is reluctant to retrieve her husband so that Amara can talk to him. Her husband walks in and takes the message anyway. After listening to Amara's report, he sends her to Calderon Valley because he suspects something is amiss there.

Answer: He and Tavi were attacked by a Marat

While trying to recover the herd of sheep that Tavi had failed to bring in the night before, they were attacked by a Marat and his two herdbane. Bernard instructed Brutus (his earth fury) to take him back to Bernardholt. When he got there he had lost a lot of blood. He was healed by Isana.

Answer: Princeps' Memoriam

After Tavi saved Amara from the windmanes, he led her to the Princeps' Memoriam. They had considerable trouble keeping the windmanes at bay but they managed to get there and that's where they rode out the rest of the storm.

Bittan was using firecrafting to subtly increase their fear level. This made them reluctant to help heal Bernard because they were afraid they would need all their strength to fight a flood. Isana came to the meeting late, which allowed her to notice the firecrafting. She was just about to tell the Steadholders when Aric started suffocating her.

After Aldo figured out what was happening to Isana, he and Kord fought. Aldo's leg was trapped in the ground by Kord's fury. Two of Warner's sons were also hurt. While this was going on, Fade tripped over Aric and spilled stew on Bittan which disrupted both of their craftings.

Answer: Aldrick, Fidelias, and Odiana had arrived at Bernardholt

Aldrick, Fidelias, and Odiana came to Bernardholt to kill Tavi and Bernard who had seen the Marat and could warn Garrison of the impending attack. They also wanted to silence Amara so that she could not disrupt their plans. Fortunately, both Isana and Amara realized the danger. Amara escaped with Tavi and Isana stole Fidelias' boots which significantly reduced his speed.

Amara stayed behind at the edge of the forest to slow down Aldrick and Fidelias. She sent Fade and Tavi on ahead to warn Garrison. They were stopped at the Rillwater by Kord and his sons. Then Amara and Bernard arrived. Amara fought Aric, and Bernard fought Kord. Bittan went after Tavi but he jumped into the river with Fade. Amara won her fight and about to help Bernard when Aldrick, Fidelias, and Odiana came. Bittan was killed by Aldrick while Odiana almost drowned Tavi. Isana brought a flood down through the river to stop her. Fade and Tavi escaped, Isana and Odiana were captured and Fidelias was injured.

Exhausted from her fight with Odiana, Isana was powerless against Kord who took them both to Kordholt to be slaves. They were kept in a shed, surrounded by flames with hardly any water. Without water they could not escape from their prison.

After they escaped from the Kordholders and Fidelias, Tavi and Fade made their way through the forest to Aldoholt. Its population had been slaughtered and it was surrounded by Marat. They were captured and taken to the Marat's camp.

Doroga did not wish to fight the Alerans and gave Tavi the chance to prove that the Alerans were not the enemies of the Marat by allowing him to participate in the Trial of the Fox.

The goal of the Trial of the Fox is to take a mushroom from a tree in the center of the Wax Forest. This is made difficult by the fact that the Keepers swarm all over the forest and will kill anything they find.

Answer: They set the croach on fire

The keepers sense the location of the creatures in their forest by seeing their heat and sensing where they break the croach. This method distorted both of those locating techniques.

When Aric fixed the roof he left holes in the shingles. The snow on the roof melted because of the heat from the fire and dripped down to Isana and Odiana. This water allowed them to escape into the woods behind the shed where they were being kept.

Count Gram was injured in an assassination attempt by two of Fidelias' mercenaries. He was still able to create a fear firecrafting that Amara took to the wall of Garrison to repel the first attack by the Marat.

Amara discovered the dagger while studying the army through a telescope. She realized the dagger meant that Aquitaine was involved and immediately told those around her to retrieve the dagger if at all possible.

Answer: Asturak

Asturak led the Wolf and Herbane clans into battle against Garrison. He was carrying the signet dagger of Aquitaine which Amara saw and which he dropped after the duel with Doroga.

Answer: Doroga and Asturak

Doroga and Asturak fought a duel that was supposed to decide whether or not the attack on Garrison continued. However when it was clear that Asturak was winning, Skagara tried to have him shot. This started a fight between the Herdbane and Wolf clans and the Horse and Gargant clans.

Skagara, head of the Wolf clan, wanted the attack on Garrison to continue, so when it was clear that Doroga would win the fight with Asturak, he tried to shoot him with a poisoned arrow. Fortunately for Doroga, Tavi saw Skagara and was able to shout a warning. This allowed Doroga to dodge the arrow and alerted Hashat to the threat. Hashat killed Skagara in retaliation.

Answer: Tavi

Asturak dropped the dagger after he was wounded by Doroga. Tavi, seeing this and knowing that the dagger could prove Aquitaine's guilt, retrieved the dagger and fled with it.

Answer: Araris Valerian

Fade had gone into hiding after the death of Princeps Septimus. He lived as a slave so he could be near Tavi and Isana without receiving the suspicion they would get if he weren't in disguise.

Answer: Odiana

Isana helped Odiana escape from Kord's slave house. Odiana healed Tavi, Bernard, and Fade because they were important to Isana. She wanted to repay her debt to Isana. She neither helped nor hurt Amara because she was a Cursor.

Answer: He asks Gaius to help the families of those wounded or killed

Gaius accepted Tavi's request and offered him a position as an Academ. Tavi gladly accepted Gaius' offer of a scholarship to the Academy. Gaius decided to be Tavi's patron because Amara had told him of Tavi's dream of attending the Academy.

Bernard and Isana are appointed without the consultation of Riva, who is the highlord who governs the area. Count Gram was moved to a position in the Amaranth Vale in the middle of Alera. Isana became the first female to gain an office without resorting to marriage or murder.
