Question 1 of 10
1. MANY Jedi and Sith use more than one form of lightsaber combat. Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Also known as "The Way of the Mynock", or the "Resilience Form", this form of lightsaber combat is the most defensive form. It is excellent for deflecting blaster fire. You might learn a thing or two about this form from Master Kenobi. Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Completed by Jedi Master Mace Windu, this form requires profound strength of focus. Using this form, Windu was able to channel his own emotions, anger and inner darkness, and change them into a weapon of the light. Very intense, fast and dangerous, this form can confuse opponents because it often appears that the user is striking several places at once. A practitioner of this form may also use a sort of mirroring effect to turn the power of an opponent back on them. Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. As a youngling, it is important to learn Form I, as this is the most basic form. Using this form, you will parry and side-swipe the blade of your lightsaber to push away an enemy's blade. This form is also good against blaster fire, or when all else fails. What is the name for Form I? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker both used this next form in lightsaber combat. This form, "The Way of the Krayt Dragon", focuses on dominating others, using strength and power as a more offensive form of attack. One unique use of this form is to deflect and redirect laser bolts. You may want to take time later to study the two distinct variations of this form. Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Count Dooku was a master of this effective and elegant form. Here the opening stance will be to hold the lightsaber in one hand, pointed down, held at the users side. What follows are fluid movements, small precise cuts, thrusts and parries. This form is excellent for lightsaber to lightsaber combat. Because it focuses on speed and accuracy instead of strength, it may be difficult to hold off heavy attacks, or attacks from multiple enemies using this form of combat. Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. This "Moderation", or "Diplomat's Form" was standard during the Clone Wars and Great Jedi Purge. This form focused on balancing all other lightsaber forms, and on being balanced within. While attempting this balancing act, a user often acquires a moderate amount of skill in each area, but masters none. This form is also the least effective at deflecting blaster bolts. Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Force-enhanced jumps, acrobatics, wide slashes and fast, powerful strikes make this form easy to recognize. This aggressive combat style is excellent against single opponents, but may also leave parts of the practitioner unprotected. Noted masters of this form include Yoda, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Aayla Secura. Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. According to Master Windu, who is "The Soresu Master"? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. What was the name of the lightsaber instructor at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant who was killed by Darth Vader? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. MANY Jedi and Sith use more than one form of lightsaber combat.

Answer: True

Most Jedi choose the form that fits them best, but that isn't to say that they are limited to learning and using only one form. In fact typical Jedi learn aspects of all forms, although few are able to master them all.
2. Also known as "The Way of the Mynock", or the "Resilience Form", this form of lightsaber combat is the most defensive form. It is excellent for deflecting blaster fire. You might learn a thing or two about this form from Master Kenobi.

Answer: Form III - Soresu

Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi had practiced form IV along with his mentor, and Ataru master, Qui-Gon Jinn. He switched to, and mastered, form III after Jinn was killed.

Answer: Juyo / Vaapad

Juyo was thought by most to be an unfinished form. Master Windu, with help from Sora Bulq, completed form VII and renamed it Vaapad. Sora Bulq went insane and he fell to the dark side trying to master Vaapad. Master Windu taught Vaapad to his apprentice, Depa Billiba, who became one of few to ever master the form. Interestingly enough, Billaba also later fell to the dark side.
4. As a youngling, it is important to learn Form I, as this is the most basic form. Using this form, you will parry and side-swipe the blade of your lightsaber to push away an enemy's blade. This form is also good against blaster fire, or when all else fails. What is the name for Form I?

Answer: Shii-Cho

Shii-Cho is usually taught to younglings before they are taken as Padawans. Notable masters of Shii-Cho are Cin Drallig and Kit Fisto.

Answer: Form V - Shien / Djem So

Shien and Djem So are both considered Form V. Shien is the older of the two variations of the form. Watch for this classic Shien stance, wherein the lightsaber is held with both hands above the user's head, blade pointed back. In this stance the dominant leg will also be behind the user, allowing for a step-through attack. Watch for a powerful defend/attack pattern in a user of Djem So.

Luke may have learned about this form from Yoda, or from his encounters with his father. Luke's actual training would have had to have been rather limited. It is entirely possible that Luke created his own style as he developed his Jedi skills.

Answer: Form II - Makashi

As most enemies used blasters, not lightsabers, Dooku probably took the Jedi a bit off guard with his use of this form.

Answer: Form VI - Niman

To point out the flaw in this technique, note that every Jedi using Niman at the Battle of Geonosis, including Coleman Trebor, was killed.

Answer: Form IV - Ataru

Master Yoda could use all forms of lightsaber combat effectively, but he probably used Ataru most often because it allowed him to use his size to an advantage. It wasn't altogether uncommon for users of this form to get their legs chopped off! Yikes!
Some sources use Ataro as a spelling.
9. According to Master Windu, who is "The Soresu Master"?

Answer: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Coming from the great Jedi Master Mace Windu, I would say that is quite a compliment. Not too shabby, indeed.
10. What was the name of the lightsaber instructor at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant who was killed by Darth Vader?

Answer: Cin Drallig

Serra Keto, Whie Malreaux, and Bene were all murdered by Vader, along with instructor Cin Drallig. In the novel "Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader" we learn that Drallig was actually beheaded by Vader. The term the Jedi use to indicate a beheading as a mark of combat is "sai cha". Sai cha is usually only used on those considered to be too dangerous to be left alive.

Then again, if you are an evil Sith Lord, it may just be a bit of fun.
