Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Dr. Lawton trying to make at the beginning of the book?

Answer: Synthetic cells

Thanks to the sudden sunspots, Dr. Lawton is finally able to create his synthetic cells. Shortly after, the Red party forces Dr. Lawton to make a human being out of his new synthetic cells.
2. Dr. Lawton's artificial being was supposed to look like a statue from what museum?

Answer: Dam Dharma Museum

Kenichi recognizes Michi's face when Michi escapes Dr. Lawton to play outside. Kenichi takes him to the museum. Dr. Tenma, Blackjack, and Fumoon are all other characters from different manga series also by Tezuka. Dr. Tenma is from "Astro Boy" and is Astro's creator, Fumoon is from "Next World" and is an alien with power over gravity, and Blackjack is from "Black Jack" and is a talented surgeon. All of these characters also appear in the Game Boy Advance game "Astro Boy: Omega Factor".
3. What is the name of the detective who is after Duke Red?

Answer: Detective Mustachio

Mustachio, a.k.a. Shinsaku, follows Duke Red in both the anime and manga. Kenichi is a common character in many Tezuka manga, Kimba is from "Kimba the White Lion" and Rock appears in "Next World" and the anime movie of "Metropolis". Except for Kimba, all of these characters also appear in "Astro Boy: Omega Factor", except Kenichi is called Kennedy and another character, Pook, can transform into Kimba.
4. What is the name of the artificial being?

Answer: Michi

Tima is the name of the artifical being in the anime, but this is about the manga, and in the manga, the artificial being is named Michi. Rock only appears in the anime version. Since Michi can transform (unknown to him) into a female form, Michi was given a name that can be used for either sex (much like "Terry" for example).
5. Who does the robot, named Fifi, help in the underground headquarters?

Answer: The Detective

When Detective Mustachio is spying on Duke Red, he is chased to the underground where he runs into Fifi. When Fifi and Mustachio are eventually split up, Fifi is melted and Mustachio eventually caught.
6. What is the name of the flower girl?

Answer: Emmy

Aeris is the famous flower girl from "Final Fantasy VII". Emmy is placed into school by the Red party in exchange for tricking Michi into the hands of the Red party. Gracy is her evil sister.
7. What is inside of the lion's head in Kenichi's house?

Answer: An instruction manual

Michi's instruction manual is inside of the lion's mouth in Kenichi's house. Kenichi reads it to discover that Michi isn't actually human, but keeps the secret to himself.
8. What is the proper name of the giant rats that appeared in the Museum?

Answer: Mikimaus Waltdisneus

Dipodomys Ingens is the proper name for Giant Kangaroo Rat and Wallabia Bicolor is a swamp wallaby. Tezuka liked Walt Disney's work and drew these giant rats that look very similar to a certain mouse by Disney. Mustachio cuts one of the rats open to create a good disguise.
9. When the artifical being ran away, where did it hide?

Answer: An ocean vessel

Upon revealing its name, Michi, who was currently disguised as a female, was discovered and a button in its throat reverted Michi back to a male. After Michi learns he/she is an artifical being with no parents, Michi goes insane and starts destroying the city and any other humans that get in his/her way.
10. The disappearance of what leads to the artificial being's death?

Answer: Sunspots

When the sunspots present at the beginning of the novel disappear, so do the synthetic cells used to structure Michi's body. Everyone has to say goodbye to the statue Michi was designed after, as Michi was melting away. Once the sunspots were completely gone, so was Michi.
