Answer: A volume of Danish history

That particular book contained Shakespeare's famous play, "Hamlet", which inspired Uncle Stoppard to write his nominated book, "Into My Grave". Even though a book of Shakespeare's greatest works would include "Hamlet", it wasn't the book that was dropped on Stoppard's foot.

The book "And Then There Were None" is a book by Agatha Christie, who writes books with disguises, similar to Stoppard's book. There is a French dictionary that Stoppard owns that is important later on in the story.
