Answer: Roderigo

Iago's scheming was financed by the lovesick Roderigo, who seemed to have had more money than sense.

Iago was passed over for promotion; he also falsely believed that Othello had slept with his wife Emilia. This fact "gnawed at his innards". He vowed revenge.

Emilia was well aware of her husband's evil nature. She was starting to tell the truth when Iago killed her and fled.

Answer: Not known

Iago was captured after killing Emilia. He swore never to speak another word. The play ends with Lodovico giving instructions to Gratiano for "the censure of this hellish villain". We are not told full details of his punishment, which seems to include some form of imprisonment and public vilification.
