Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Cupid
Answer: Markie
Cupid is the home of the Cupies, a species of small humanoids that look like young children even when fully grown. Markie appears as a supporting character in "Little Myth Marker" (1985), the sixth book of the series. She pretends to be a young child and is the temporary ward of Skeeve.
She plays another role in the book, but I don't want to spoil that part of the story. In "Class Dis-Mythed" (2005), she brings her nephew Melvin to be tutored by Skeeve in practical magic.
2. Deva
Answer: The Geek
Deva is the home of the Devils. Much of Deva was severely damaged in the past by a vaguely defined catastrophe that may have been partly economic and partly environmental. The main activity on the dimension is the Bazaar, a giant market/shopping area that stretches as far as the eye can see. Beginning in the fourth book, "Myth Directions", Skeeve, Aahz, and many of their friends occupy a mansion/office facility that one enters through Deva.
Although it appears to be a simple tent, there is actually a portal to another dimension that contains a marge larger space.
The Geek is a typically-appearing Devil with reddish skin and short horns. He is a bookie and an operator of a gambling club. While he is never a main character, he plays a supporting role in several of the books.
Another Devil is Frumple, who is a supporting character in "Another Fine Myth" (1978) and "M.Y.T.H., Inc. in Action" (1990). He has been banned from the Bazaar for being caught being dishonest in a business transaction.
Although the Devils may drive a very hard bargain in their business dealings, they are not allowed to flat-out lie about something.
3. Djinger
Answer: Kalvin
Kalvin is a Djinn from Djinger. He plays his largest role in "Myth-Nomers and Im-Pervections" (1987) when he attempts to help Skeeve locate Aahz. Djinns appear to be small humanoids whose lower halves gradually fade into smoke. They have magical powers although Kalvin claims that the powers are not as powerful as the hype that surrounds Djinns.
In "Sweet Myth-ery of Life" (1993) we meet Daphne, a Djinni, and Kalvin's wife. Skeeve seems to find Daphne very attractive although whether that is a personal characteristic of Daphne or a characteristic of all Djinnis is unclear.
4. Imper
Answer: Brockhurst
Imper is the home dimension of the Imps. In Aahz's (admittedly biased) opinion, the Imps are generally a poor imitation of the Devils, although he admits they tend to be snazzy dressers. Imps are pinkish humanoids with small horns. In "Another Fine Myth" (1978), we encounter Brockhurst and Higgens, two Imp assassins who were sent to assassinate Garkin, Skeeve's first magic teacher.
In "Myth Conceptions" (1980), Brockhurst is hired by Skeeve to be part of a strike force that attempts to stop Big Julie's army from invading Possiltum.
5. Jahk
Answer: Maasha
The Jahks appear to come in two main types to Skeeve when he first observes them--skeletally thin or extremely obese. Maasha, who is working as a "Mechanik" (using devices) magician when Skeeve meets her in "Myth Directions" (1982), the third book, falls into the latter category. Maasha stands out even more because of her extremely attention-grabbing fashion and cosmetic choices. Jahk is best known for the Big Game (a football-like game) played between the cities of Ta-Hoe and Vey-gus each year to determine which city will be capital of the dimension for the next year.
The players in the game are the rare third type of Jahk, very large but very muscular.
6. Klah
Answer: Skeeve
Skeeve is the point of view character for the first several novels. We find out when he asks Aahz in "Another Fine Myth" (1978), the very first book, that his home dimension is Klah. Skeeve and the other inhabitants of the dimension are Klahds. During the second, third, and fourth books of the series Skeeve works as Court Magician for the Kingdom of Possiltum, which is located on Klah. What we see of Klah in Possiltum suggests a vaguely Medieval environment, although later books muddy this description to some degree.
Much of Klah has an Earth-like environment although Skeeve makes references to strange animals such as spider-bears while claiming to be unfamiliar with cows. Klahds appear to be basically human. Bunny, Guido, and Hugh Badaxe are also Klahds.
7. Limbo
Answer: Vilhelm
Unlike some of the other dimensions, there appear to be more than one intelligent species on Limbo as both vampires and werewolves reside there. Limbo is a very low-magic dimension where Skeeve has some difficulty accessing enough magic to perform even simple spells. We first encounter Limbo in "Myth-ing Persons" (1984), the fifth book of the series. Vilhelm is the Dispatcher, and operates a large number of telephones connecting various people who want or need something or someone.
The Woof Writers, who we also meet in the same book, are a pair of werewolves.
In general, the vampires seem to be more urban based and the werewolves more rural based.
8. Perv
Answer: Aahz
Perv is the home dimension of Aahz, Skeeve's magic mentor and friend. As Aahz points out, the correct term for a native of the dimension is Pervect, not Pervert (which is generally used as an insulting term). Pervects are reptilian in appearance with greenish scales and yellowish eyes. Skeeve travels to Perv in "Myth-Nomers and Im-Pervections" (1987) to find Aahz. Perv has a reputation of being unfriendly to outsiders, a reputation that is not entirely undeserved. We also meet several female Pervects including Aahz's mother, the Duchess, and Pookie, his cousin.
9. Trollia
Answer: Tananda
Tananda is a Trollop from Trollia. Her nickname (which is how we are first introduced to her in "Another Fine Myth") is Tanda. Trollops, if Tananda is a typical example, are curvaceous female humanoids with a greenish hue to their skin and hair. Tananda's brother Chumley is a Troll and is large and covered with greenish fur. Both Tananda and Chumley are important characters in several books of the series.
10. Wuh
Answer: Wensley
The Wuhs of Wuh are humanoids of a vaguely sheep-like appearance. We meet them in "Myth-Alliances" (2003) when Wensley, a Wuh, comes to Skeeve seeking his help. A group of Pervect Magicians known as the Pervect Ten have taken over the dimension and Wensley and the other Wuhs want Skeeve and his friends to get rid of them.
The Wuhs are extremely hesitant and diffident and seem to find nothing better than being ordinary and unremarkable.
