Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Everyone remembers where they were when the BookWorld was remade". Where was the written Thursday?

Answer: Resting between readings

Written Thursday was "resting between readings", which is a cause of some embarrassment for her. All the characters in BookWorld set great store by the number of readings their book gets, and Thursday worries that she is well on the way to the remainder bins. She even resorts to lying about her numbers of readers to cover up how few they are.
2. Who does written Thursday visit to be able to spy on the real Thursday and her family?

Answer: The Lady of Shalot

The Lady of Shalot has a magic mirror that lets her look out of BookWorld into the real world; written Thursday sneaks into the castle and uses it to spy on Landen and the children.
3. Written Thursday finally agrees to go on a date with Whitby Jett, but her clockwork butler sends him away when his past comes to light. What had Whitby done that made him "unsuitable" for Thursday to date?

Answer: Set fire to a bus load of nuns and orphan puppies

The butler, Sprockett, shows written Thursday an old newspaper clipping, telling how a bus load of nuns, travelling with the orphan puppies, was deliberately set on fire, with the loss of all on board. The picture of the perpetrator is definitely Whitby, and Thursday agrees that she couldn't possibly date him knowing what he had done.
4. Who gives written Thursday the real Thursday's Jurisfiction Shield on the bus?

Answer: The red haired man

The mysterious red haired man gives written Thursday the Shield, and tells her cryptically "trust nobody but yourself", all of which adds nicely to the general confusion as written Thursday tries to work out where real Thursday has gone.
5. When written Thursday visits the real Thursday's home in Swindon, who or what is hidden in the broom cupboard?

Answer: Jenny Next, Thursday's imaginary daughter

Jenny is the real Thursday's imaginary daughter. Aornis programmed a "worm" into her brain that makes her think she has another daughter, but Thursday is the only person who can see or hear her. The rest of the family go along with this to avoid distressing Thursday.

As it turns out, the written Thursday can see and hear Jenny too, and they determine that the real Thursday must still be alive somewhere, because if she was dead, Jenny would vanish.
6. Who or what guard the bridge between Fan Fiction and Vanity Publishing in the BookWorld?

Answer: Two game show hosts

Anyone who wants to can cross the bridge into Fan Fiction island, but the two game show hosts kill anyone who tries to come back again unless they can solve the riddle.

Julian Sparkle is in charge of The "Puzzlemania Escape the Bridge" challenge. He says that "We shoot anyone on the bridge. We look for people on the bridge every 30 seconds. It takes four minutes to run across the bridge. You cannot enter the Text Sea below or you will dissolve in it."

Written Thursday, of course, makes it safely back to shore, and even wins a nice set of steak knives in the process.
7. Written Thursday is called on to investigate when a book en route to deletion crashes and scatters debris across several million other books. Which book does Thursday eventually find it to be?

Answer: The Murders on the Hareng Rouge

In a typically convoluted plot, the deleted novel was used to trap the real Thursday when her TransGenre Taxi piggybacked itself to it in order to travel across BookWorld. Every effort was made to hide the identity of the book, and make the whole thing seem like an accident, but there were enough clues left behind to allow written Thursday to eventually work out what had happened to real Thursday.
8. In BookWorld, if a character presses the "Emergency Snooze" button, what is the dreadful consequence?

Answer: Several fluffy kittens are put to death

Reserved for the direst of emergencies, pushing the Snooze button will cause "a reverse throughput capacitor on the ImaginoTransference engines to cause the reader drowsiness, yawning, and sleep". It is a very serious matter, and so to discourage frivolous use, any time a character uses it, "one or more kittens are put to death somewhere in BookWorld".
9. Who is written Thursday's understudy, who goes on the unwise dates with the Goblin?

Answer: Carmine O'Kipper

Carmine was sacked from her previous assignment when she panicked as the number of simultaneous readers rose, and went for the Snooze button. She was stopped before she could push it, but it meant she got fired. She needs the job as Thursday to restore her reputation.
10. Does written Thursday actually find real Thursday?

Answer: She finds her and saves her life

Written Thursday finally pieces together all the clues and undertakes a dangerous journey into Psychological Thriller to rescue real Thursday. Real Thursday was seriously injured when her taxi crashed and has been hiding out in the spare room of the mausoleum in the grounds of the dilapidated mental hospital. Written Thursday and Sprockett rush real Thursday to "Grey's Anatomy" and she is operated on to save her life.
