Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "The Skies of Pern" we see "The Littlest Dragonrider", again. What's his name?

Answer: K'van

The wonderful series we know as "The Dragonriders of Pern" partly started in a little-known short story called "The Littlest Dragonrider", which tells the tale of Keevan (K'van), the youngest Candidate at Benden Weyr, and his struggle to impress. K'van also makes a very brief appearance at Cove Hold in "The White Dragon".
2. In "Chronicles of Pern: First Fall" we finally learn what the acronym P.E.R.N. stands for. What does it stand for?

Answer: Parallel Earth Resources Negligible

Strange how a simple evaluation by a survey team can end up being a planetary name.
3. From "The Harper Hall" trilogy, who is Menolly's father?

Answer: Seaholder Yanus

Noebahdie (no body) doesn't exist, Camo is a drudge, and Petiron is the Harper at Half-Circle Sea Hold that teaches Menolly to play.
4. From "The Dragonriders of Pern" trilogy, who is the Ruathan bred Weyrwoman at Benden Weyr? (Hint: She cause F'lar to challange Fax when F'lar comes to Rautha on Search.)

Answer: Lessa

OK, that one was way too easy.
5. From "The Skies of Pern", what is the generic term given to the group of people who want to stop the spread of the new technologies?

Answer: Abominators

The Abominators are hidebound traditionalists who fear that the coming of the new technologies will do more harm than good for the people of Pern.
6. From "Dragon Dawn", what is the name of pony that Sean O'Connell wants to re-create?

Answer: Cricket

Sean eventually gets his wish, but as a beautiful dappled grey horse, instead of a pony.
7. From "All the Weyrs of Pern", which colony ship do the Dragonriders use as their main base of operations for the destruction of Thread?

Answer: Yokohama

Aivas sends the Dragonriders to the Yoko for many reasons, not the least of which is the recovery of the body of Sallah Telgar.
8. What is the source of Thread?

Answer: Oort Cloud

While the Red Star, the eccentric planet in the Rukbat system, does actually bring the Thread to Pern, the source of the Thread is the Oort cloud at the edge of the system. The Colony Ship is the base I mentioned in the previous question, and Mychorrhiza is what Thread actually is.
9. True or false: F'nor is F'lar's half-brother.

Answer: True

F'nor, Brown rider and Wingleader, is indeed half-brother to F'lar, Weyrleader at Benden Weyr.
10. True or false: Lord Warder Lytol, regent for Jaxom at Ruatha Hold, was once a Dragonrider.

Answer: True

Lytol (once L'tol) was a rider at one point. He rode a Brown Dragon named Larth. In an accident, Lytol's Dragon was killed before the first Threadfall of the Ninth Pass, which is the Pass that most of the novels to date take place during.
