Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. By which village does the alien vessel land?

Answer: Ansby, Lincolnshire.

All of these currently exist except for Ansby itself.
2. To which race did the space ship belong?

Answer: The Wersgorix.

The Kzinti were created by Larry Niven, and numerous other authors have written stories about them, including one Poul Anderson. The Jokati were the Kzinti's former masters and, hopefully, everyone is familiar with the Vulcans.
3. Approximately how many aliens fell in the fight for the ship?

Answer: About a hundred.

The aliens were counting on panic from the natives in order to overawe superior numbers, but a large number of these natives were trained soldiers and when they were attacked, they did not hesitate to counter attack.
4. What did Sir Roger plan for the ship initially?

Answer: To use it to win the wars in France and the Holy Land.

Sir Roger had plans to use the ship against the French and Muslims. Most of his people agreed with these plans.
5. How many of his people followed Sir Roger on board the alien vessel?

Answer: Some two thousand souls.

All stations of people went aboard the ship along with their lord, from high born knights to serfs along with their cattle.
6. Sir Roger's people had kept an alien alive to describe the marvels of the ships but he managed an act of treachery. What did he do?

Answer: He set the auto pilot to take them to his nearest colony world.

Branithar reckoned that more of his people could handle these upstarts.
7. What happened on the colony planet?

Answer: The English people ran a massive bluff.

The English pretended they were a scouting mission for a counter invasion.
8. How did the English find enough allies to take down the alien empire?

Answer: They tricked three space-faring subject races into thinking the others agreed to attack.

Being able to intercept the diplomatic communiques, the English made it look as if all the various other space going races supported the English on an attack.
9. While Sir Roger was running about like crazy to organise the alliance and directing the fighting his fellow knight, Sir Owain Montbelle, had other thoughts. What was he up to?

Answer: Talking to the enemy about going home.

It was probably unfair to call Sir Owain coward or traitor. At least initially. But he soon stepped over the line.
10. Do the English ever make it back to England?

Answer: No

Branithar is able to plot a course to Earth based on his memories of the original trip but when he tries tricking Sir Owain, he's killed along with the rest of the Wersgorix in the crew and there is no other record of the course.
