For several weeks, she had failed to gain any useful information from him. However, the toll that the torture took on Dorvan nearly shook him out of his sanity afterwards.

Pagorski had previously appeared in "Fate of the Jedi"'s sixth entry, "Vortex," which was also written by Troy Denning. Here, Abeloth uses her so that she can infiltrate would-be Empress Natasi Daala and convince her to wage the first ever Imperial democratic election against Head of State Jagged Fel. Abeloth did this after she convinced Pagorski that she would return to Imperial space, which she did.

At the Jedi academy on Ossus, the Order, with the help of the Hapes Consortium, managed to sneak all of the Jedi, their families, and the non-Jedi crew through the invading Sith armada and into the safety of the Hapan Battle Dragons. There was only ever one loss on the side of the Jedi, as a ship was infiltrated by a Sith strike team and outfitted with a baradium missile meant to kill Queen Mother Tenel Ka Djo and her daughter, Allana, aboard the "Dragon Queen II." This suicidal assassination attempt failed thanks to quick thinking on Han Solo's part.

Prior to the initiation of the Jedi evacuation, Allana had a vision where the nests of the Barabel Knights beneath the Order's Temple on Coruscant would be attacked by Sith. Without revealing the Barabels' secret of their hatchlings, Allana unsuccessfully tried to convince her grandparents to take her to Coruscant so that she could warn the Barabels. Even though they disagreed, Allana still stowed away aboard the "Millennium Falcon", and her grandparents didn't know about her presence aboard the ship until they arrived at the capital of the Galactic Alliance.

As the Jedi began killing off Sith across Coruscant, Ben and Vestara were sent to distract Workan, disguised as Galactic Alliance Senator Kameron Suldar, so that Luke Skywalker, Seha Dorvald, and Doran Sarkin-Tainer could arrive in time to deal with Workan themselves. Workan instantly saw through Ben and Vestara's disguises, but it was too late for him once the other Jedi arrived to "take care of him." Workan was killed in the ensuing conflict.

Because her Kem avatar was dying out since her body could not take Abeloth's Force power, she lured Wynn Dorvan into killing her in the Jedi Temple's computer core. There, after Dorvan shot her multiple times, her next avatar was in the computer core itself. Only then did Dorvan realize that he had been duped.

After Vestara was separated from the rest of the Jedi strike team in the Jedi Temple, thanks to the Sith, she was chased down by her fellow dark siders, who wanted her alive for interrogation. When she was literally backed up into a corner, Vestara revealed the identity of the Jedi queen: Allana Solo. Vestara was then given the opportunity to prove her loyalty to the Lost Tribe when she was forced into an attempted assassination on Allana herself.

After Vestara's failed assassination attempt on Allana, the Sith attacked the Solos and Jedi Knight Bazel Warv. During the ensuing battle, Bazel was mortally wounded, but he kept on going until he eventually succumbed to his injuries. His sacrifice was what allowed the Solos to escape with their lives.

Believing that Fett might lead back to Abeloth because of the former's connection to Daala, who was currently allied with Abeloth, Tahiri tracked the bounty hunter down to the moon of Hagamoor 3. The Ones were three separate Force entities who resided on the world of Mortis, as they were seen on "Star Wars: The Clone Wars". According to the Thuruht, Abeloth was the Mother of the Ones, and was left behind on her own world when the other Ones rejected her. She became the Bringer of Chaos by drinking and bathing in the Font of Power and the Lake of Apparitions.

At the same time her Pagorski avatar died, Abeloth's Korelei avatar on Coruscant suffered immense pain in her fight with Luke Skywalker, and she left without killing him. After the Temple's shields were brought down, the Masters met in their next Council meeting with the observation of Korelei's reaction in response to Pagorski's death.

They conclude that whenever one of Abeloth's avatars die, she is severely weakened as a result.

As Luke Skywalker, Jaina Solo, and Corran Horn went to deal with the Jedi Temple's shield generator, Ben and the Horn siblings were sent to deal with the Temple's computer core. They were sent there because of some mysterious happenings all throughout the Temple itself, which could only have come from the core.

When the three Jedi were sent to deal with it, Abeloth separated Ben from the Horn siblings for her diabolical purposes.

As Tahiri and Saba traveled to the Jedi Temple with their contingent of Void Jumpers, the latter accepted the former back into the Order. Once again, Tahiri was a Jedi Knight who was fighting for the peace of the galaxy. She would then help Saba kill Abeloth's avatar in the computer core.

Although Vestara's assassination attempt on Allana Solo fooled the rest of the Sith into relying on the young Sith girl, Abeloth wasn't fooled. That was why she kidnapped both her and Ben via the Sith Meditation Sphere known as Ship, and took them to her planet.

Her goal with them was to recreate her family of the Ones, where Ben would take the position of the Daughter's light side aspect while Vestara would take the Son's position in the dark side of the Force.

On Abeloth's world, she took the guise of Lady Korelei, a Sith from the Lost Tribe who she had absorbed into her being. Korelei was a Keshiri Sith Lord who was primarily responsible for Wynn Dorvan's tortures. She was killed in combat against Ben and Vestara on Abeloth's world.

When Luke confronted Abeloth beyond shadows, he initially looked to his late wife, Mara, to help him finally rid the galaxy of Abeloth. However, she couldn't help, which was why a mysterious stranger came in and helped Luke finally kill Abeloth. This stranger was Darth Krayt, ruler of the One Sith, who hinted that in spite of what Jacen Solo did in upsetting the Balance of the Force during the Second Galactic Civil War, the Sith will one day rule over the galaxy.

This would happen in the comic series, Star Wars: Legacy, which takes place about 94 years after this novel.

When Luke asked Jacen what his decision was in ultimately falling to the dark side, Luke had been under the impression that Jacen did it to stop the stranger (Darth Krayt) from ruling the galaxy. Jacen denied this, and even told him that he didn't even believe that it was either himself or Luke on the Throne. Jacen then told his uncle that he became Darth Caedus not to stop Krayt from sitting on the Throne of Balance (the symbol of ruling the galaxy), but because he wanted to prevent Allana from standing next to him when he did.

Knowing her attempted assassination of Allana Solo, Jaina, upon landing on Abeloth's world, only allowed Ben to board the ship, the "Rude Awakening", so that he could see his dad. As for Vestara, she was left on the ground, and she realized that her betrayal had been realized, and Jaina would tell Ben. Jaina did just that, and when she and Ben tried to capture Vestara, she was soon saved by Ship, who promoted her to the level of Sith Lord and told her that she would be accepted by other Sith (the One Sith) rather than the Lost Tribe.

In her sadness over what became of her and Ben, Ship assured Jaina that her love for him will make her stronger in the dark side.

The final scene of the novel has Jaina walking down the hangar deck of the "Dragon Queen II", getting ready to marry Jagged Fel. Other things that happen in the novel are Allana revealing herself to be heir to the Hapan throne, the Jedi exiled from Coruscant for Abeloth nearly destroying Coruscant during the battle between the Jedi and Sith, and the Jedi knowing that Abeloth could return and going after the Mortis dagger to finish her off. Overall, a satisfying conclusion to "Fate of the Jedi."
