1. What food was Charlie trying to make for Bella when she smelt it burning?

Answer: Spaghetti bolognese

Charlie tries to soften Bella up with his cooking so that he can talk to her about Edward, Jacob and her being grounded. He un-grounded her, on the condition that she would try to keep some balance in her life, by not just spending time with the Cullens.

2. What book was Bella reading again?

Answer: Wuthering Heights

She was reading "Wuthering Heights" again, and Edward tries to bring this up to distract her about her seeing Jacob. She really wanted to go to La Push to visit him, but Edward thought it was too dangerous. We realise later in the book, it was more about his personal feud with the wolves.

3. How long did it take for Edward to beat Alice at chess?

Answer: 3 minutes

It took three minutes, as they played most of the game in their heads: Alice foresaw the moves Edward was going to make, and he saw the moves she was making in her mind. Bella then played Jasper, and she says he buried her.

4. Who did Mike bet on to win a fight between Edward and Jacob?

Answer: Jacob

Mike didn't realise that Bella could hear him and his friends, and he bet that Jacob would beat up Edward. It was in calculus, the only class Bella had without Edward, when she heard them betting.

5. What college did Edward want Bella to go to?

Answer: Dartmouth

Edward offered to pay for Bella's college fund, but she refused. The only thing she dreamt about was becoming a vampire, like him, and she realised that after that, she wouldn't be able to stand the smell of human blood that filled schools.

6. How many people were coming to Bella's party?

Answer: 65

Alice invited everyone, and Bella wasn't sure she knew that many people. Bella's mum Renee cancelled at the last minute, and it brought the attendance to 65.

7. What did Edward want Bella to challenge Emmett to once she became a vampire?

Bella asks if she will be stronger than Edward, and he tells her she will be stronger than both him and Emmett. Bella is happy at this point, as she can't imagine someone stronger than Emmett.

Jacob didn't want to step up to the job of being Alpha, so Sam took it instead. It was Jacob's right because his great grandfather, Ephraim Black, was Alpha, so the honour should have been handed to him.

Jane explained to her that rules had been broken and there would be a consequence. Edward wanted her to stay and become a "vegetarian" but Jane said no, and summoned Felix to kill Bree.

10. What date did Bella and Edward set the wedding for?

Answer: August 13th

Bella didn't want to cut the wedding too close to her being another year older than Edward. This was one of her limits for Alice, who was organising the wedding.
