Answer: New York

Charlie joined the police force because his father and his grandfather had both been policemen but found it increasingly difficult to remain on the right side of the law.
2. In "The White Road" the Reverend Faulkner plays a major role. In what other novel in the Charlie Parker series does he appear?

Answer: Every Dead Thing

Reverend Faulkner is one of Charlie Parker's most chilling adversaries. He seems to have almost physic powers that he uses to influence those around him. In "The White Road" this is especially true when it comes to Cyrus Nairn, a man Faulkner reaches out to through telepathy and convinces to try and kill Charlie's girlfriend Rachel.
3. In "Every Dead Thing", by what name was the assassin sent by the Jews known?

Answer: The Gollem

The Gollem means "Man of Clay". According to the legend The Gollem wasn't born like a normal man but emerged from the earth.

Answer: FBI agent

The Traveling Man was a friend of Charlie's, or at least that's what Charlie thought. He even joined in the hunt for himself in New Orleans and almost managed to kill Charlie and his girlfriend Rachel before he himself was killed.
5. In "The Black Angel", who shows up at the christening of Charlie and Rachel's daughter to ask for help in finding her daughter?

Answer: Louis' aunt.

Louis' aunt brought him up from a very early age. His own mother went missing after leaving home with a her boyfriend, Deemer. Deemer was later killed by Louis, as he believed he had killed his mother. Louis was only 14 when he killed Deemer, but did it in a very sophisticated way by planting an exploding device in a whistle he knew Deemer used regularly.

Answer: Atys

The events that lead up to the murder have their roots all the way back in the days of slavery. The two main families in the book have a common history that dates back to the 1800s.

Answer: Dutch Island

Dutch Island, or Sanctuary, as it was once known, has a gory and spooky history. This becomes evident in the conclusion of "Bad Men", when the island itself seem to come alive to deal with the men who come hunting for Marian.
8. In "The Black Angel" the final showdown takes place in the town of Sedlec. In which country is Sedlec situated?

Answer: Czech Republic

Sedlec is a real place and the ossuary that is described in "The Black Angel" does exist.
9. In "Every Dead Thing" what does Reverend Faulker do to "help" Charlie see more clearly?

Answer: He spits in his mouth.

When Charlie leaves the prison he can immediately experience the effects of what Faulker did, as he can see shapes that first appear to be ravens, but then take on the shape of black angels.

Answer: Ireland

John Connolly was born in Ireland and works as a freelance journalist as well as a writer. He still contributes to the "The Irish Times" and divides his time between Ireland and America.
