Mammy Vooley sits alone all day in a wooden chair in an alcove in the Labyrinth at Cheminor. At night she can be heard singing to herself in different voices. She catches Crome standing, while everyone else is bowing to the queen.

Answer: "Children Beloved of the Gods have the power to weep roses"

Before the woman with the insects head arrived in Crome's rooms, the painting originally was called "Children Beloved of the Gods have the Power to weep Roses" and had dancers winding themselves around the tallest girl in a spiral. After the woman with the insect's head arrived, the painting was distorted and the dancers were dancing in the shadow of the lamb's head.
16. What is Ansel Verdigris supposed to see that Crome has touched?

Answer: a sword from under the ground

Ansel Verdigris betrayed his friendship with Crome and was ordered to see that Crome had touched the sword from under the ground.

Answer: yes, and Crome kills him

Verdigris was hit in the head with the sword and his arm was cut off by Crome. He was laughing and pointing at his own head and arm, and said that it was what he wanted.

Answer: Vira-Co, the city in the waste

At the end of the book, Mammy vooley says that the city willed be called "Vira-Co", and also that it was the city in the waste.

Answer: Ou Lou Lou

It is repeated many different times throughout the book where the civilians are chanting this 'Ou Lou Lou' song, which is referred to as "that sacred song." Although "ev heg" is stated a couple of times, it is not as noticeable as "ou lou lou."
