Mild by today's standards, TW was very risqu� for its time. It was the perfect place for the imagination of an adolescent reader bored with "dad's" Fantasy.

Lynn Abbey used her book "Sanctuary" to update and restart "Thieves' World". The book is set 30 years later and the time has not been gentle on the city of Sanctuary. This restart gave the other authors:

An opportunity to build new characters.
Tie off loose or incomplete story lines from the first series.
Presented fixed events that effected everyone to establish continuity.
