1. In the story of 'Hansel and Gretel', the wicked witch is remembered for putting Hansel in a cage with the intention of eating him. But what was the immediate fate of Gretel?

Answer: She became the witch's slave

The wicked witch in this tale clearly had an odd diet - she had a fondness for children, yet her gingerbread house was untouched. This story was written by the Brothers Grimm and was published in 1812. Although Gretel is initially the slave of the witch, it is made clear later that she is to be eaten too, but the pair manage to escape, after pushing the witch into her own oven.
2. Which Shakespearean wizard was exiled to an island by his brother?

Answer: Prospero

Prospero was the Duke of Milan in "The Tempest", considered as one of Shakespeare's Masque or Late Romance plays, depending on the classification. Prospero used spells to control the monster Caliban, the elemental Ariel, and to affect the weather, but in the end he renounced his magic skills.
