The Vampire Knitting Series Trivia Quiz

Nancy Warren's paranormal mystery and romance series is home to quirky, likeable characters, nearly all of whom are superb knitters. Though I don't know a knit from a purl, I very much enjoyed these books. Let's take a brief overview of the series.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Our heroine is a pretty blonde in her mid-twenties named Lucy. What is her surname?

Answer: Swift

All the choices are both types of birds and surnames. Swan has some significance at the end of the series.
2. Lucy has come to Britain to stay with her grandmother. Where does her Gran live?

Answer: Oxford

Each of the incorrect choices is mentioned briefly throughout the series. Lucy obviously loves Oxford, and the city almost becomes a character in its own right.
3. Where does Lucy hail from?

Answer: Boston

Margaret Twig, an important supporting character comes from Canada, though not Toronto. Lucy meets a few Australians but no New Zealanders or South Africans.
4. What type of shop does Lucy's grandmother run?

Answer: A knitting shop

Harrington Street contains all these shops, but the knitting shop is the center of the action.
5. Shortly after Lucy arrives, she is adopted by an adorable kitten, who remains her inseparable companion throughout the series. What color is this very special kitty?

Answer: Black

Lucy at first thinks the kitten is lost and puts up notices. Very soon though, she realizes that she has been adopted. Since the kitten is black, she names her Nyx.
6. As well as knitting, what other surprising talent do the members of the Vampire Knitting Club turn out to possess?

Answer: Solving murders

The Vampire Knitting Club pool their many years of experience and varied fields of expertise to solve local and occasionally regional murders. William Thresher, a friend of Lucy's, is a culinary genius, who eventually develops a small and exclusive catering business.

His sister Olivia is a talented gardener. Throughout the series, Teddy Lamont is mentioned as an innovative and popular knitting designer, Lucy's idol, whose patterns, magazines and books play an ongoing if supporting part in the series.

In Book 7 "Lace and Lies" we finally meet Teddy.
7. Another type of magical creature is integral to the series along with vampires. What type of creature is it?

Answer: Witch

Lucy is no sooner introduced to the local vampires than she makes the surprising and unwelcome discovery that she herself is a witch, and that the local coven expects her to cozy up to the community. The idea does not thrill her.
8. Besides Lucy's new home, what other locale (city, town or village) features prominently in the series?

Answer: Moreton-under-Wychwood

Moreton-under-Wychwood seems to be a typical, picturesque English village. Unbeknownst to its non-magical residents, though, it is the center of local Oxfordshire witching activities.
9. Is Lucy a skilled knitter?

Answer: No

Though starting in Lucy's teen years, Gran has periodically tried to teach her, but knitting remains a struggle for her. This 'disability' provides a gentle running joke throughout the series.
10. At the beginning of the series, Lucy has a broken heart. As the series continues, does she find possible romantic successors to 'Todd the Toad'?

Answer: Yes

On first coming to Oxford, Lucy meets two very attractive (okay, let's face it, sexy) men who rapidly eclipse her cheating ex, and who waste no time developing a rivalry for her affection.
