Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Why did Naomi Chadwick go to jail?

Answer: Murder

Naomi admitted that she murdered Alec Bradley over twenty years before the story began. She spent around ten years in jail for her crime. Although her time in prison was done, Naomi still maintained that the murder was an act of self-defense. Kelsey spent time discovering that her mother was telling the truth the whole time.
2. Which horse won the Kentucky Derby?

Answer: Double or Nothing

It was a very close race from the beginning. Naomi owned Pride and Gabe owed Double. Both were amazing racehorses. In fact, Kelsey loved each horse so much that she placed a bet for each of them to win. Unfortunately, Pride fell forward and struggled to get back up again as Double crossed the finish line in first place. The poor horse Virginia's Pride died on the track.
3. What killed Naomi's horse during the Derby?

Answer: An overdose of amphetamines

It appeared that Virginia's Pride had a great chance at winning the Kentucky Derby. But because someone had given her an overdose of amphetamines, the horse literally ran her heart out. Speculations and rumors spread after the race, most of them thinking Gabe drugged the horse or Naomi had accidentally given it too many drugs on accident.
4. Who murdered the horse?

Answer: Reno Morales

Virginia's Pride was injected with amphetamines and died a mile into the race. He was drugged by his own jockey, Reno, who only wanted the horse disqualified. It broke his heart that he had unintentionally killed Pride. Reno was hurt by the fall but recovered, only to commit suicide.
5. Which horse won the Preakness?

Answer: Double or Nothing

After Virginia's Pride was murdered, Naomi entered another horse named High Waters. The horse came from behind and earned second place, which was a shocking accomplishment. But the big winner was Double or Nothing, who won the second leg of the Triple Crown.
6. Which horse was the winner of the Belmont Stakes?

Answer: Double or Nothing

Despite multiple attempts to sabotage the majestic horse, Double or Nothing won the Belmont Stakes as well as the Triple Crown. Double won two lengths ahead of any other horse in the race. Earlier, Kelsey claimed that horses meant more than money and races to Gabe. She realized that Gabe loved his horse.
7. What job was Channing, Kelsey's brother, studying to earn at college?

Answer: Surgeon

Because all of Channing's ancestors had been surgeons, the pressure was on him to carry on the tradition. But as he grew up, his true passion was working with animals. When he visited Kelsey at Three Willows on his spring break, his old passion came out once more. Matt, the on-call veterinarian, offered to let Channing work alongside him. Channing eventually changed his major and was happy helping horses.
8. How did Gabe get the farm he owned?

Answer: He won it in a poker game

Gabe Slater won the Cunningham farm from Bill Cunningham himself. He let all of the groomers and stable hands keep their jobs. He called his farm Longshot. Gabe lived his life like a gambler and appreciated all he had because of a horrible childhood.
9. What did Philip want to be when he grew up?

Answer: Baseball player

Just like Channing, Philip aspired to be something other than what his family wanted. He became a teacher at a university instead of a professional baseball player, despite the fact that he had a good arm for the sport. It was because of his pompous mother Milicent that his desire was crushed.

In fact, when Kelsey announced that she was dating Gabe, a gambler, Milicent essentially disowned her granddaughter.
10. Who killed Rich Slater?

Answer: Kelsey

While Naomi slept in her bedroom after taking a sleeping pill, Rich Slater drunkenly snuck into her house to seek revenge. He was angry that she never paid attention to him, and he also wanted to harm Kelsey to hurt Gabe in return. Kelsey caught him sneaking in and managed to escape his grasp.

She ran into Naomi's room, woke her up, and asked her if she still had the gun she had used to kill Alec Bradley. Ironically, Naomi still had the gun, which Kelsey used to protect herself and her mother.
