After meeting Edward, Bella's gemstone changed to reflect the color of Edward's eyes. Edward's eyes ranged from a golden color after feeding to almost black when he was thirsty.

However, they go on hunting trips to ares with carnivore problems. The boys go on a "camping" trip to an area known for large grizzly bears. The carnivores' blood tastes closer to human blood since they also eat meat.

During the time of Rosalie's human life, Edward was pretending to be Esme's younger brother. Rosalie was engaged to be married to a man by the name of Royce King. Carlisle found Rosalie dying in the street after Royce assaulted her. Edward was furious with Carlisle for changing Rosalie, because she was well known in the community.

He knew that Royce King would put out a search party so that no one would suspect him of causing Rosalie's disappearance.

These vampires are the ones who attacked and changed Carlisle. Carlisle had to hide during his transformation. After realizing what he was he disappeared. The wooden cross was not discussed in the movie, however Edward did point out a frame holding all of the Cullens' past graduation caps.

Most members of the Cullen family have a taste for expensive vehicles. Edward drives a new Volvo, Carlisle owns a Mercedes, and Rosalie has a BMW convertible. The Cullens have an endless supply of money that they use to indulge in cars as well as homes across the world.

The books never mention if Esme has a car of her own; however, she does have blueprints of homes she designs. Alice does not have a car in this book, but she later acquires one as a gift from Edward for holding Bella hostage while he hunts.

Edward leads Bella to believe that Esme fell from a cliff face. Bella later learns the truth from Esme. Esme miscarried her child and it destroyed her mentally. Esme jumped from a cliff with the hopes that it would kill her. Esme's body was taken straight to the morgue at the hospital upon rescue.

The doctors assumed that she was dead without even checking for a heartbeat. Carlisle changed her with hopes that the venom would heal her body. The hardest part of being a vampire for both Esme and Rosalie is the inability to have children.

James is a tracker that hunts Bella because of the way that Edward protects her. Killing Bella is the most exciting game to James, since he has to get around several vampires. James has a coven consisting of himself, his mate Victoria, and Laurent. When James begins the hunt, Laurent leaves the coven and warns the Cullens of the abilities that James posses. Edward believes that Victoria, partner of James, will eventually seek to destroy him.

He hides the fact that his family helped to kill James so that Victoria would leave his family alone when she seeks revenge. Edward has no idea at this point that Victoria wants Bella dead, not Edward.
