Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What was the name of Lara Notsil's astromech droid?

Answer: Tonin

Astromechs flew in special slots in some starfighters (including X-wings) and helped their pilots in flight. Each pilot was assigned a personal astromech droid. Pilots gave their astromechs unique names, and often bonded with the droids. The droids also tended to grow personalities of their own.

Tonin was Lara Notsil's astromech droid. Gate belonged to Wedge Antilles, Vape to Face, and Thirteen to Kell Tainer.

When Lara Notsil deserted the New Republic and joined Zsinj, her only true friend was Tonin. Tonin helped Lara immensely in sabotaging Zsinj's flagship, Iron Fist. While Lara was on duty, Tonin would lure in mouse droids and reprogram them, eventually making a fleet of corrupt, obedient mouse droids.

When Lara fled Zsinj's employ, Tonin helped fly the shuttle used to evacuate the rescued test subjects.
2. Han Solo was given the rank of General in the New Republic military, and was charged with bringing down Warlord Zsinj. What was the name of Han Solo's command ship?

Answer: Mon Remonda

All the ships mentioned were Mon Calamari cruisers. Home One was the flagship of the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Endor (Seen in "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi"). Mon Remonda was the flagship used by General Solo during his campaign against Warlord Zsinj. The Mon Karren and Mon Delindo were also part of Solo's fleet.
3. At the end of "Solo Command", Lara Notsil was wanted by both the New Republic and Zsinj for treason, so she assumed a new identity and went into hiding. Where did Lara Notsil run off to at the end of "Solo Command"?

Answer: Corellia

At the end of "Solo Command", the crew of the Mon Remonda forgot to disable their scanner for Lara's voice print. Mon Remonda picked up a transmission that matched Lara's voice, but from a woman identifying herself as Kirney Slane. Its intended recipient was Myn Donos.

Wedge knew that even though Lara had helped them greatly, that she would still be tried and convicted of treason, which carried the death penalty, if she ever returned. Han ordered that Myn be given a copy of the message, and that all other copies were to be destroyed. Wedge and Han both chose to not investigate Kirney Slane.

Kirney Slane said to Myn that although they had not parted well, that if he ever wanted to try again at a relationship, she would wait for him on Corellia where she had a new shuttle business. She mentioned that she already had a droid that Myn knew (probably Tonin) and a copilot that he really had to meet (probably Zsinj's modified Ewok).
4. How many X-wing squadrons did Wedge Antilles lead in "Solo Command"?

Answer: Two

Wedge officially transferred back to Rogue Squadron and became Rogue One, while retaining the titles of Wraith Leader and Rogue Leader. Face was promoted to Brevet Captain, and given the call sign Wraith One. Face assumed command of the Wraiths when Wedge was not around.
5. Which of the following lines did Han Solo say to Zsinj in "Solo Command"?

Answer: "Maybe I could let you kiss my Wookiee."

The first time Zsinj contacted the Mon Remonda, Han let Chewie talk to the Warlord. The second time, Han decided he would take it himself. Zsinj contacted Han to congratulate him on a successful victory.

"I've signaled you to offer congratulations. You realize that you have cost me very dearly." - Warlord Zsinj
"I don't have much to offer you in compensation. Maybe I could let you kiss my Wookiee." - Han Solo
("Solo Command", p 329)

Chewbacca was not enthusiastic about the idea. Zsinj went into a fit of rage over the comm system. Unbeknownst to Han, Zsinj's defeat and rage were all a ruse.

The incorrect answers were all Han Solo lines from the movie "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope".
6. The Empire was known for its distaste of non-humans, while the New Republic was accepting of all species. Zsinj developed a brainwashing technique that could be used on certain non-human species. Zsinj would make his victims commit acts of terror, causing tension between the humans and non-humans of the New Republic. One of the Rogues was a brainwashing victim, and tried to kill Wedge Antilles. Instead, in order to save Wedge, Corran Horn was forced to kill a fellow pilot. Which fellow pilot did Corran kill?

Answer: Tal'dira

Tal'dira was a proud, strong, and honorable warrior. He was also a Twi'lek, and fell victim to Zsinj's brainwashing project. He was activated by the agent Galey, a cook on the Mon Remonda, and instructed to kill Wedge Antilles. While leaving the Mon Remonda for a mission, Tali'dira attacked Wedge from behind. Corran managed to warn Wedge just in time, though. Tal'dira felt strongly compelled to kill Wedge, but he did not want to hurt his fellow pilots, and could not reason why he had attacked Wedge so dishonorably. Corran Horn tried to disable Tal'dira's X-wing, but the Twi'lek diverted shields away from his attacker, and let the full force of the lasers destroy him.
7. The New Reublic determined that Twi'leks were one of the affected species by Zsinj's brainwashing experiments. Until the situation was resolved, they had to pull all Twi'leks from active duty in the fleet. Who was not taken off active duty because of the new precaution?

Answer: Nuro Tualin

Nuro Tualin was also a Twi'lek pilot from the Mon Remonda. He was an A-wing pilot, and, like Tal'dira, activated by Galey. Tualin reported an engine malfunction while the fighter squadrons were preparing to jump to a mission. He was ordered to return to the Mon Remonda, but instead he made an attack run on the bridge in an attempt to kill Han Solo. Tyria Sarkin of Wraith Squadron was forced to shoot down Tualin. Because of Tal'dira and Tualin's attacks, all Twi'leks in the fleet were taken off active duty.

Koyi Komad was a Twi'lek mechanic first introduced in the "X-wing: Rogue Squadron" comic series. She was incredibly upset at being taken off duty for not being trusted. It was exactly this kind of response that Zsinj had been hoping for. Dia Passik was a Wraith Squadron pilot, and was also quite upset, but decided to help out her squadron anyway, in the ways that she could. Nawara Ven was Rogue Squadron's executive officer, and understood the response the best, but did not care for it.

Eyan, a Twi'lek, tried to kill Admiral Ackbar during a meeting with Piggy at the beginning of "Solo Command". Later, Mon Mothma's Gotal bodyguard attempted to assassinate her. After the Twi'leks were taken off of active duty, Wedge convened a brainstorming session with the Wraiths and Rogues to figure out Zsinj's plans. They predicted that the next species to be hit would be Sullustans or Bothans, and that their acts of terror would involve either piloting or computer slicing respectively. Their predictions were sent off to New Republic Intelligence, and were used to stop multiple disasters from happening.
8. At the end of "Solo Command", some pilots were promoted, some left, and some were transferred to new squadrons. Which squadron was Myn transferred to?

Answer: Rogue Squadron

Face was promoted from Brevet Captain to Captain, but Wraith Squadron was decommissioned. It was immediately recommissioned as an Intelligence unit, and all the Wraiths who requested a transfer into the new unit were instantly accepted.

Face, Kell, Piggy, Shalla, Runt, Tyria, Dia, and Elassar all moved over to the new Intelligence Wraith Squadron.

Wes left the Wraiths to rejoin the Rogues, as he was promised by Wedge.

Myn also requested a transfer in order to stay in Starfighter Command, rather than move to Intelligence. He was also assigned to Rogue Squadron.
9. Han Solo had four starfighter squadrons on his command ship. Which starfighter was not used by any of the squadrons?

Answer: Y-wings

Han Solo officially had four starfighter squadrons on board the Mon Remonda: two X-wing squadrons, one A-wing, and one B-wing. They were Wraith, Rogue, Polearm, and Nova respectively.

X-wings were excellent, well-rounded fighters, and the back-bone of the New Republic's Starfighter Command. A-wings were fast, light ships that were used for intercepting enemy fighters and scouting. B-wings were the closest thing to a bomber that the Mon Remonda had. Y-wings usually filled the role of bomber, but were becoming obsolete. B-wing were faster and had better dog fighting capabilities while still being able to carry substantial payloads.

Wraith Squadron was usually away, under cover, running their own operations. Periodically, some Wraiths would return to the Mon Remonda to maintain the appearance that they really were on the Mon Calamari cruiser.
10. Zsinj was actually the main antagonist for a different "Star Wars" novel set later in the chronology. Which "Star Wars" novel took place after "Solo Command" and concluded the Zsinj campaign?

Answer: The Courtship of Princess Leia

"The Courtship of Princess Leia", by Dave Wolverton, was published in 1994. It started with Han Solo returning on the Mon Remonda after a long campaign against Warlord Zsinj. Zsinj was the main antagonist of this novel, where he ultimately met his demise. The Zsinj campaign was never fleshed out at this point and served as an excuse to keep Han away from Leia. This separation put stress on their relationship, setting the stage for Han's battle with Prince Isolder for Leia's affections.

Aaron Allston used the Zsinj campaign as the major campaign that Wraith Squadron participated in during their formative years. "Solo Command" was published in 1999.
