There, Chris met Tom's successful and easy-going dad Alec, his opinionated mom Eleanor and smart yet fragile sister Chloe. Chloe fell for Chris right off and invited him to the country house and then other places like the Saatchi Gallery and the movies.

While they were watching a film, they decided to leave and go to Chris'place. That's where they first made love and became involved with one another.

She told him she didn't allow anyone in her home. He introduced himself as Chris and reminded her of her pest problem. She remembered then that she told Nola that peanut butter worked best and not cheese. Once inside, Chris told her that Nola's reception on her television was awful.

He wanted to check Mrs. Eastby's television and see if she had the same problem. Mrs. Eastby was about to take her medication when she remembered that Nola called him Mr. Harris. That's when Mrs. Eastby was shot and killed by Chris.

He waited in Mrs. Eastby's apartment and when Nola arrived home, he shot her too. Chris stole the shot gun from his father-in-law's gun collection. He brought it back to the countryside house when he was done.

Soon after he committed the murders of Nola Rice and Mrs. Eastby, he was brought in for questioning. Chris contradicted what Nola wrote in it about him planning to leave his wife for her. After Chris' departure from the police station, Inspector Dowd said Chris wouldn't win a medal for fidelity.

However, he felt that Chris wasn't the guy who would commit murder. The other investigator, Detective Banner, was sure that Chris killed Mrs. Betty Eastby and Nola Rice. He even dreamt of how the murder was done.

However, later Inspector Dowd told him that the old woman's ring was recovered. A burglar who was shot and killed had the ring in his possession. Chris tossed the jewelery into the water, but Mrs. Eastby's ring, bounced off the black metal railing and landed on the cement.

It was very late at night, when Chris woke up in front of his lap top computer. Moments later, Nola and Mrs. Eastby confronted Chris via his conscience. Nola told him he left many clues for the cops to find out his identity. But he had been lucky rather than good.
